This is serious business.
Proper hotdog preparation is an art and I will not hear otherwise.
I prefer whole beef hot dogs - none of this mixed meat bullshit. Nathan's are pretty top notch. Armour hot dogs are like eating foam, and Hebrew National used to be okay, but they've changed the casing recipe so it's like biting into a garden hose half the time.
You heat the dogs in water- not the microwave. If you microwave hotdogs you have no control of your life and will probably die friendless in a ditch.
While I boil the dogs, I slice some fresh white onion and dill pickles and pack them down into fresh buns. Kraut can also be used as well, but that may become in short supply because I suspect people will declare Kraut to be racist sometime within the next year or two.
If you put ketchup on your hot dogs, you are either a seven-year old, or you're the type who likes to cripple small animals.
Once the dogs have been boiled for about 5-8 minutes and has been properly baptized and all its sins have been transferred into the water, I place the dogs into said buns and liberally apply yellow mustard (or brown if I have any on hand).
Enjoy.
