I had a discussion with @Dunsparce about this the other day, but in light of complaints of people not using the report function enough in certain sections of the site, I'll point out that me and probably quite a few other people would report posts more if an alert could always be expected after a staff member reads it. I took the effort to press that button and write a report in the first place because I care about where the post goes after that. When people watch the reports go through the wormhole into modland and then never hear about them again, they tend to get discouraged because they expect visible results and aren't receiving them.

Staff can of course disregard this if they already noticed that, I wouldn't know because I haven't reported a post in like two weeks because I feel like no one even reads what I write because I don't get notifications. I'm still traumatized by the loss of ratings notifications and want pretty report notifications to make up for it.

Why should I bother, they don't take reports seriously.

That's kind of gay
I think if they made the reports button into a sticker more people would use it
Edit: I spent a little more time thinking about this
Getting report notifications back is nice but I don't think lack of them is a good reason to report less. You should report because it irritates bad posters and improves the quality and fun of the farms for you and everyone else, and because the cucks, sorry I mean mods here do it for free for the same reasons and it helps them out.

The report system doesn't need to feed your alert addiction to work properly.

I hear you, but I think that getting your reports rejected is probably going to be more disheartening and lead a lot of people to simply give up reporting or stray from reporting stuff that got rejected when the same thing could be responded to differently by a different mod or something flies in one thread or doesn't depending on the timing/context. Basically I personally think that knowing 100% of the time what happens when you report a post might end up legitimizing some brand of borderline rule breaking in people's minds, reports will flow in less, mods are blind and threads suffer. Alternatively it builds up expectation that certain kind of behavior is always hammered down with the same ferocity and leads into disappointment when it isn't. A rejected report also isn't completely wasted value: I've personally gotten a bunch of cases where I ended up rejecting the original report but checked the surrounding pages and found items that nobody had reported. Because of the vague rules and the forum being comedy oriented, a lot of reports are going to end up being rejected, but if you seriously disagree with something being rejected or feel like it's being ignored, you can report it again when different staff are around.

Also, sometimes stuff gets reported while it's borderline but before it gets completely out of hand, and then it's easier to recognize the out of line stuff when it has been previously reported, even if the original report didn't get anything deleted.

Staff is supposed to explicitly "Resolve" a ticket if it requires action, and "Reject" a ticket if it requires no action. If you see that your ticket was "Resolved", then you can assume action was taken.

Do you recieve notice on whether or not it is Resolved or Rejected? If not, I'll take a look at getting that to show up for users.

only when there is a comment that coincides with the review/resolution

You can also tick the "send resolution/reject report" and leave the text box blank.
