Except it was revealed that Rick didn't sacrifice his freedom for his family, he did it to get rid of his enemies and Jerry. It wasn't an act of nobility on his part.

Think about it, Rick was willing to open his heart and allow what's-her-name into his life, only for his two best friends to die. He goes into hiding with his family, only to hear Jerry talking smack about him. At this point, Rick has already decided he's going to get rid of his enemies. The feds, the council of Ricks, and Jerry. Rick was hurt at this point, so he once again acted as an asshole.

But the thing is, Rick is changing. He cares for his family. He saved Jerry from his ex-alien girlfriend's boyfriend, he views his affection for Morty to be one of his more undesirable traits, he lied to get back into the President's good books in order to stay with his family rather than leave for another dimension. Rick has grown attached at this point, and he doesn't like it. Not one bit, because as mentioned he was hurt bad the last time he allowed someone to get close, so he acts out because (and I've said this before) he doesn't want to deal with his own shit, It's always, always been easier for him to run away.

My opinion is that the whole Szechuan sauce reveal was nothing more than Rick trying to pretend like he didn’t care. It was over to the top even for this show.

Also, it’s messy writing on the behalf of Harmon and co who dove head first into a character arc and didn’t realize the implications of where that would lead. Then they tried to back pedal and return to the “asshole Rick.”

I haven't met anyone into this show who wasn't merch-obsessed. Like, owns atleast a tee, and probably some figurine, or paid virtual stickers, and they all go nuts if you say that site whatever has a thematic sale.
Wonder why.

Also, I think this is the only show that would benefit from a "all just a dream/delusion of a psycho" ending of any kind.

Pretty funny that some fans still act like R&M is something extraordinarily special and not just a normal TV show. They act as if Roiland and Harmon are somehow so far above other TV show writers and creators, meanwhile they just want to make as much money with their show as possible. Who wouldn't?

Almost surprised Roiland hasn't teamed up with kink.com or pornhub for an episode or ad. Think this is probably something we can look forward to in the future.

Incidentally for non UK members, Boris hasn't cut the NHS budget, it's risen year on year for the last 15 years. Occasionally the NHS will blow billions on some stupid scheme (usually IT related) and then make cuts to pay for it, which is not the same as the government cutting it's budget.
