I gotta say, after watching the first season and part of the second, I can understand where people are coming from when they're saying you have to be intelligent to like the show. Some episodes of that show are some of the best I've seen in a TV show and a lot of it is very clever. Good characters, good storytelling, nice ideas.

Honestly with Smiling Friends coming out, I expect Rick and Morty will be like Spongebob or Teen Titans Go and Smiling Friends will be the fucking beloved show that everyone loves until it got cut.

Don't get the hype for smily friends. Basically just "generic edgy webtoon: the series".
As little as I have watched Rick and Morty it atleast seems to have had some original takes.
