I figured we could use this thread to discuss the various Scream films and the upcoming fifth film.

Anyone seen the tv show?

I saw that Cuba Gooding son joined the cast and Marley Shelton is in it as well.

Do we think Sidney and Gail are going to finally die?

I watched the Scream TV show, I randomly found it browsing torrents. It's pretty cheesey but eh, something to watch.

Never saw anything passed 3. Missed 4, which I was told was good, and I missed the TV show.

3 was awful and felt like the series had jumped the shark, so I pretty much gave up after that.

1 though is a classic of its era and worthy of praise. That opening scene with Drew Barrymore works as kind of an amazing short film. Its one of the best horror movie scenes of all time in my mind, and the rest of the movie worked too.

2 was a solid follow up. Not as good, but I had fun with it. 1 is the only one I've rewatched though. It works as kind of a nice time capsule of that mid to late 90s time period.

Maybe I'll check out 4 and the TV show before 5 comes out just to get caught up.

I've only seen the first three movies.

Loved the first one when I saw it as a teen in the 90s. It's still a decent movie, but I really only watch it anymore to get that kind of mid 90s time capsule feeling out of any real desire to pay attention to the plot.

Second one was ok. Not as good as the first, but still pretty solid and worth watching at least once.

Third was complete garbage.

It was bad, even for the 90s. It was like, how can 100 white guys stuff as many tropes into a film with bad acting.

Lol its a product of its time but lbr it was a refreshing taste that briefly stopped the endless pointless sequels.

I love the meta commentary tho since they're all aware they're in a film.

Some trivia;

Reese Witherspoon auditioned for Sidney.
Brooke Shields and Breckin Meyer were considered for roles.
Courtney Cox took on the role to deliberately subvert her comedic roles.
Drew Barrymore had other commitments. It was her idea to die in the first 15 minutes ala Janet Leigh. In order to get the proper reaction from her, Craven stood off screen whispering in exact terms how he was going to slaughter and gut her puppy.

This is the role that really saved her career. Out of all the people mentioned, she's a real actress now...Drew Barrymore isn't too bad either, but she's no Reese.

Reese is the epitome of white feminism imo. She was annoying as hell in BLL and when the show won she was all "UWU SUCH A GOOD DAY FOR WOMEN BEHIJD THE CAMERAS" when she didn't do shit. She's one of the whitest white feminists. Also season 2 was unnecessary and a fucking disaster. Nicole's talking about a season 3.........ugh.

That opening scene is indeed one of the best horror moments, scary as hell.

Scream If You Know What I Did Last Friday The 13th is a superior horror experience.
What the hell was up with that joke where The Great Santini was included with tools of torture? I just don't get it.
