Our social media and other internet websites feed us our own bias narrative. Thus, we are more isolated into our little groups, where we all agree with one another, and this separated us more than ever before. There are engineers who purposely react to our search and click history to give us the best experience. Our phone and internet devices are addicting asf, we spend hours a day looking at social media, and we are always overstimulated with information. These companies should do something about it or take responsibility for ourselves!

Let’s be real, we didn’t need a 2 hour documentary about what we already knew. It could have been said in like 15 minute short documentary.

Anyways, thots?

Thinking about it is this really that new of a thing really? Lets be honest people have always tended to prefer hanging out with people who generally share their ideals. Could be family, a group of friends, a town, or even a country, it's human nature to want to be with those who are similar. Sure Facebook may fuel it to some degree, but so will the leader of a country, and your mom, it's always came down to how you handled it. And generally speaking most people don't like getting challenged too much, that was true in 1900, and it's true now.

It's a total mess and it might literally bring about the downfall of civilization as we know it.

The internet and social media is akin to giving everyone their own television studio and newspaper, that's a lot of power and when you put that power in the hands of evil people they abuse that power for evil means.

This modern situation is quite terrifying when you think about it because there doesn't seem to be a way to fix it, you may say "oh, people just need to be open to more information, lies need to be fought with the truth" but how exactly are you going to force people to look outside their bubble when people so vehemently won't? People these days will literally riot if they think an opposing view is being given a platform.

While I don't disagree with the main idea, how much it actually affects real life is very debatable. People with close opinion (especially extremist opinions) have always flocked together to their own autistic circles and the phones simply replace the TV as the idiot box.

The "real problem" with social media is that it completely destroyed the monopoly on ideas that the media once had, and that's why it gets demonized, while the media only escalates their own bias, extremism and misinformation.

You’re darn right, if we didn’t have internet we would use the TV and maybe the radio, as the main source, so it’d be extremely bias towards whatever they put out.

Should we be teaching our kids or others, how to be less involved into the internet? I really don’t see how we can get a handle on our own self discipline to stop mindlessly feeding into the internet? Maybe, I’m just so addicted, I can’t see the out to this situation.
