I remember in one of his LiveWires he complained about his back and overall condition.
In one vlog he claimed he literally can't go for a run without his heart giving out. Something about passing out in front of everyone during gym class as a kid. He's always had a host of "health" issues, some of them quite mysterious.

In the same way that just going to therapy and going thru the motions won't fix depression, nor will people so desperate for improvement that they'll lower the bar for "improvement" in someone's mental health.
I don't think for a moment that Noah even goes "through the motion" when it comes to therapy.

I don't believe he has ever sat down with a Psych passed one session once he learns the doc won't just give him pills and he won't see a therapist because they can't prescribe meds.

What I love is Noah's tweets where he claims he is so dark, disturbed, and brilliant that medically trained personnel, who regularly have to assist people dealing with severe trauma, can't handle the stereotypical suburban NEET that failed to launch.

It's a shame because if Noah really tried, I think he would fine talk therapy very helpful, but he needs to drop the fucking ego.

Sidebar: I genuinely enjoy when Spoony tries to be a know-it-all. His belief in his own skills and accomplishments in any subject matter - especially acting or athletics, like here - is almost insanely out of touch with reality. Looking back at all the bullshit within his content and online history you get the picture of a guy who strongly needs to feel like the smartest person in the room.

Nothing will ever top his sheer foolery over the Yakuza games and coming off as someone who has legit never played a second of them in his life.

You pretty much just hit the nail on the head, Noah doesnt want to confront what the root of his problems are, he just wants to chop down the tree and get it over with. But as we all know if you ignore a problem too long it only gets worse.

There was an interesting NYT article some years back about the pitfalls of $600-a-session patients. These are the Wall Street bigmouths who are least likely to respond to treatment; as Drew Magary once observed, "listening is losing."

Long story short, you're dealing with a man whose ego is bigger than his shoulders, who thinks he knows everyone's business better than they do... including his doctors.

So Spoony is a spoonie?

Holy shit... ahaha. Thought he was just a standard case of "depression that ~wants~ to be schizo," like every other chuni nerd stuck in thier dnd roleplay livejournal halcyon adolescence.

I wish back in the day we could have gotten him and moviebob together for a debate: Console or PC, which was the better gaming platform? and just watch them both go nuts as they yell at each other with their half baked bullshit.

Just that all the stories are bad and that it should only be the wacky stuff which to anyone whos played Yakuza knows thats only 25% of the experience if that
I reckon anyone that thinks the stories in yakuza are bad either haven't played the games or are fans of dunkey. Or maybe they're fans of the series in the sense that they've seen memes of if it and that's it.

I haven't crushed through every Yakuza but the ones I've played so far (0, Kiwami and LAD) have pretty interesting stories. Mind you, I don't think they're shakespearean art or anything. Regardless, I don't think the series would be as good if it was all the wacky stuff.

The substories are supposed to be levity amongst the serious crime drama. The serious/silly balance also makes the humorous parts hit harder. Like, I cracked up super hard when Kazuma Kiryu, stonefaced badass yakuza, hoisted his toy car into the air after crushing a bunch of children in a slot car game.
