Yeah, getting way too many GotG vibes and after the second Guardians movie, I'm not touching this (the movie gave me all the feels). Also kind of sad that WB is trying to use actors who were in MCU movies (just because Heimdall is dead doesn't mean you need Idris Elba).

It's pathetic that WB is trying to rip off Marvel. Probably going to skip this.

That trailer looks like complete trash, every joke is fucking atrocious and it is purely shameful how desperately they want to be R-rated Marvel.

There's a passage where they use the word "dick" like a dozen times in under a minute, cause "dick" is a bad word and that makes spamming it a comedy gold mine I guess. Fuck off DC. It's about as funny as those stupid "Yo mamma" jokes in Predator: Retard Edition.

The first movie was hot garbage for having the most insanely idiotic and nonsensical plot, filled with characters doing horribly retarded shit, just so the plot can keep on going and it was meddled by committee shenanigans to hell and back. This looks like it's exploring new ways to suck in entirely different ways, but to the exact same degree.

Yeah, I am going to wait and see what everyone else says about this film before I invest any time and money into it. It just looked like Guardians of the Galaxy, except it's off-putting and does not look very interesting.

What's funny is that I know a lot of people who called the trailer to the first Guardians movie "off-putting." Lots of people initially did not like the scene with Quill flipping the bird, or the "what a bunch of a-holes" line ... And then it turned out being one of the most beloved blockbusters in the past decade. I adore the Guardians movies (yes, even the second one-- arguably the most underrated MCU movie, in my opinion).

Perhaps there is a lot of surprising stuff coming in this Suicide Squad movie, much like with Guardians (with the heart, I mean). Or, they could also be going the Deadpool route-- which is a brand of comedy that you are either on board with, or not at all on board with.

To me, James Gunn is either a huge hit or miss with his scripts. At the very least, I think the movie looks visually far more interesting than the first Suicide Squad.

And, also, from a purely comic book fan-driven perspective, it's about goddamn time we saw Harley in the classic black and red. I still want to see her in a FULL movie with the Harlequin getup, but I'll take what I can get after seeing her in a piss-yellow hillbilly suspender outfit in Birds of Prey.

I don't think it looks like GotG clone outside the way the trailer makes King Shark to be, but most of the jokes in the trailer fell flat for me. The movie however does seem like it's playing up the uniqueness of the ip, mainly them being villains and expendable something the first one really didn't do anything with in any meaningful way. Also Starro is a killer pick for a villain, can't remember any villain already used in s capeshit movie anything like Starro.

I've liked all the movies James Gunn has directed so far, however the last movie he wrote was Brightburn which honestly wasn't good.

So a previous criticism from the last movie was its third act since a group of dangerous criminals saves the world. But it looks like the third act for this "reboot" will be the same climax (if the tagline wasn't a giveaway) since Starro was revealed in the trailer.

WB tried to make a version of Guardians of the Galaxy with the first movie. So who better to direct than the director of Guardians of the Galaxy, at least in WBs mind. Looks decent. I loved both GOTG movies so I'll most likely like this.

Calling it now, once this hits Blu Ray, there will be an edit with them fighting the starfish to "Mr. BlueSky" within 3 days.

I really doubt that this made anyone clutch their pearls and blush at the thought that a group of ruffians do something good, it was more about this point:
"They fight some ancient deity capable of leveling an entire city with his dark and twisted magic within a few hours, so what the fuck is Harley gonna do against that with nothing other than a fucking baseball bat and hotpants?"

You had two powerful supernatural beings trying to take over the world on one side and some chucklefuck with a boomerang and his friends on the other. In the end, the one guy who can turn himself into some giant fire-golem thingy saved the day while the others were relegated to cheerleading.
This movie needs to avoid the same pitfall, they want to make the threat something huge and imposing, but on the other, they got Margot Robbie with a stick to fight it. If this boils down to "One of the villains is super powerful and thus the only person to go toe-to-toe with the BBEG" it does raise the question: What the fuck is the rest of this team doing there?

Also, fuck Margot Robbie. She whined about being forced to wear skimpy clothing for the Harley Quinn role to get brownie points with the feminist crowd, now she's back.

Or, they could also be going the Deadpool route-- which is a brand of comedy that you are either on board with, or not at all on board with.

The movie could turn out decent, I liked GOTG... but how sad is it that this movie, yet once more, can at best aspire to be a derivative DC version of a Marvel hit?
I loved Deadpool and its comedy, but saying the word "dick" over and over again in what I assume was the writer's idea of "Tarrantino-ing" is just unfiltered raw sewage.
