The .TF Network and Administration - A network of item trading websites ran by a pedophile brony and his walking damage controller

I am remaking a thread that had a good merit behind it but was completely buttfucked by the original OP's inept ability to archive a single fucking thing. Some of his stuff will be put in here, but the rest will be what I've pulled from archives and other such places.

Team Fortress 2 is an old ass game with an economy fueled by the autistic false value of its hats. I know this, you know this, and anyone who even plays the game casually has ran into one form or another of the .TF Network, be it backpack, scrap, marketplace, etc. This network has served as the backbone of the TF2 Hat economy, with prices of some "unusuals" rivalling cryptocurrency.

While this has been the butt of many a joke, another joke has risen up from the ashes, albeit with a much more fucked up history: Jessie's Footrest. Come take a seat, and let's talk about how a fat brony ended up convincing underage boys to stick sharpies in their poopers.

(Thanks Doxbin, you broken piece of shit)
Proper source posted
here.

Jesse is considered the co-owner of a vast majority of websites under the .TF network, and he's very eager to show it. He has an extensive list of githup repos, and for the most part was a well respected coder of the TF2 community.

He also has a personal website of all the child porn he's collected from his users.

It started with a leaked image posted on /tf2g/, a thread on 4chan's /vg/ for TF2 players. An underage brony was promised a badge if he stuffed something up his ass and wrote "Jessie's Footstool" on his chest. When the .TF staff discovered that the thread found out (and mocked) Jesse, the other network owner Geel took it upon himself to bait the thread with a private raffle, banning all participants who signed up thinking they were gonna get some free hats. We'll be discussing that raffle, and Geel, shortly.

Note: The full image showing everything is somewhere. I will not post it. If you ask for it do a somersault into a fucking meat grinder.

In a turn of events (to the surprise of no one) the Streisand Effect was proven again, as the use of the phrase on the boy's back warranted an instant ban, and anyone found to be spreading this information would be banned from the entire network. Jessie eventually came forward with a half ass rebuttal that ended poorly for him, then he posted a sitewide message blaming the accusations on all the big meanies that hate LGBTQIAWTFBBQ+ and all that other bullshit you'd post if you want people to shut their mouth.

Did this work in silencing anyone? No, and neither did the hundreds of people he banned while sifting through multiple websites talking about his degeneracy, even getting a bunch of his buddies to brigade a twitter user's account to death for calling him out. By the way here's that thread. You're welcome.

Of course a political sperg would be involved in CP distribution, and this one is no different. Between whining on his twitter and babbling on Reddit, Joshua was primarily responsible for baiting a bunch of /tf2g/ users into a raffle just so he could ban them. All because of a picture posted on the thread containing the leaked photo of an underage dude with those fabled words written onto his chest in sharpie. Yes there is an archive of this thread, however due to the obvious underage photo I will not link it here. Once again, if you ask me, I will tell you to climb into a wood chipper.

0x7bqk.png

This was the spark that lit the torches in the community, and with extensive digging Josh's involvement with the admin's CP ring was laid out for all to witness in its glory. While Jesse was busy whining to his users that the big meany nazis were bullying him for touching kids, Joshua was busy trying to yeet everyone he saw as "toxic", including a bunch of spergs involved with tacobot.tf, another set of speds who screech over MvM meta. While they warrant their own place here, they weren't involved with kiddie diddling so I'll just dump a couple snippets of their discord chat logs here.

Joshua is also very active on Knockout, a Facepunch knockoff akin to ResetEra. Unfortunately I cannot pull anything from his profile, but luckily some snippets were found, and a thread has been archived.

He also has a github repo, which includes collabs with Jesse, and FacePunch.NET, which frankly I have no idea what it's about.

The Fallout

As news of this debauchery reached the mainstream, several youtube channels began retelling the story. From PDFs to pastebins to videos, each spoke in extensive and personal detail of the scandal. For simplicity's sake I'll just dump the videos in a spoiler, as I can't write down all this shit.

TF2 Youtuber Aar Exposed by Z3n

Other bits of delicious drama include but are not limited to:

A pastebin detailing how /tf2g/ got baited.
A PDF attached that contains a metric assload of screencaps, detailed conversations, etc. Mainly shit that to bear repeating would just bloat this OP.
A fuck ton of Reddit threads about the scandal, which all end up DOA.
The TF2 Steam Forum thread locked involving the situation.

There's probably more, however I would like to thank the OP for fucking up his thread, LemonSavior for not knowing how to archive and thinking that Twitter is a good place to callout people, and @anameisaname for being a useless necroposter. While this thread's main focus is a community rather than the couple of spergs I spent way too much time writing on, I think this rabbit hole runs much deeper than I can get my hands on.

Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk.

The website backpack.tf (which these two run) is also notorious for arbitrarily shifting the real world prices of in-game hats. The site's original purpose was to replace a primitive hat-pricing spreadsheet (now defunct) that suffered a similar problem, since it was ran by a lone person. Conceptually Geel would host a website that offered every user a vote on what individual hats should cost in the community; thus every single active Team Fortress 2 trader could join the site, submit a vote and an average would be determined democratically.

Obviously once Geel and various associates realized how much money they can skim off the top of various transactions (just look at the front page of marketplace.tf) they began to severely cut down on who had a say in hat price suggestions. Votes are now arbitrarily dismissed and users are often banned for "price manipulation" (i.e. what Geel and his friends do behind the scenes.) Their excuses often boil down to new users (on the website; not necessarily on Steam) logging in and deciding to vote without lurking for years, which therefore must mean they are malicious. Users banned this way are never offered recourse nor an opportunity to dispute a ban. As if that wasn't enough, specific hat prices can receive support from numerous users but the suggestion can be shot down anyway. No reason required.

Lastly you may notice a lot of the extremely rare or one-of-a-kind TF2 items sit in the Steam backpacks of certain individuals. Many of these individuals don't play the game anymore (defeating the entire point of owning a glowing hat), communicate solely with one another to form a vast clique, and will only use Geel's site for their transactions. New, equally rare items that appear in the backpacks of non-clique members dip in value over time by default, even if it's a single item that may never be replicated or produced again (making it one of a kind). The reasoning behind this may be boiled down to "well we voted the hat is worth X dollars but it has never been traded, thus the price should lower until it is." It's akin to a one-of-a-kind car sitting in a climate controlled garage in pristine condition and for some reason that means it should be worth less and less, over years, until someone can afford it.

The site is a microcosm of the same nonsense excuses and in-trading that have ruined real world markets. Top it all off with a brony and child-diddlers and you will quickly see why enough traders avoid using backpack.tf as a basis for pricing trades entirely.

i hate being reminded that i have to use a piece of software written by a brony footfag if i want to use steam 2fa without a phone (you need 2fa for any form of trading whatsoever, might i add)

wouldn't this be better off as a general tf2 community thread? the game is such a wonderful autism magnet and there's been so much drama over the last few years alone (nursey, crate depression, tyler's bullshit, etc etc) that i think it'd be warranted

Forgive me for not knowing, but how is a site like backpack.tf legal? I understand that games like TF2 have the cosmetics, but I don't really understand how these people can sell the items outside of the Steam Marketplace, and how they are able to artificially control prices. Wouldn't (or shouldn't) Valve step in here to protect their own market? Why are these sites allowed to operate?

Why would it be illegal? People are free to trade their pixels as they please.

Oh? you want an inside scoop do you? i fought these fags for years. its why my old account on steam is trade cautioned.

So everything in the OP is true and remains true and has been true since 2012 in my experience.

I used to be the biggest thorn in the side of every single tradefag on the game, i sharked several players, fucked with market prices by selling items en masse at an incorrect price, you name it i did it, i used to host fake raffles and scammed so much crap off of people.

No i didnt keep all of it, i gave most of the stuff to my friends and players who could never afford some of these things.

I usually remained undercover on their servers, learning when admins were on and began my trolling and scamming when they werent on.

I did it because i hate higher powers and tf2 trading was made worse by their antics of hoarding unusuals and artificially inflating their own inventories.

This all came together on 7/26 aka The Crate Depression, millions of dollars in the value of unusuals were gone and would never recover due to how many free unusuals were unboxed.

I didnt have to do a thing, i had won, the trading community ate itself alive and i watched it burn with the biggest grin on my face.

7/26 Never forget.

The .tf people run their own TF2 servers and there was a rumor going around earlier this year that they were behind a lot of the botting plague that has swept Valve servers in order to drive people to their servers.

To my understanding creators.tf is associated with Tyler McVicker, not anyone in the OP.

The market is a secondary option. Trading is a different thing that has been more than legal for a little over 10 years (Happy Anniversary, Mannconomy!) Valve allows the trade of real world cash for these items but they cannot guarantee insurance like they can with any hacks, breaches, etc. like when the Crate Depression happened, where people could be refunded for the amount of money they spent on any affected crates.

I'll get that worked into the OP. Guess web.archive is as useful as being 2000th in fucking line for archiving on archive.whatever it is this week

Doxbin isn't archived. Fucking terrible job.

Doxbin itself was down, and I cannot access it, nor the cache. The only reason why I even KNOW the dox from there is because the text preview from the search results had the address with no problem. If anyone knows what's up with doxbin and can get the link, let me know but I'll work that other link in for now.

What's even the appeal of unusuals? I just scrap random drops until I can buy a cool cosmetic and leave it at that. Why would anyone spend so much on a digital item that's in a completely closed system?

I spent $20 in that last unusual bug and got a few. Medics are more likely to heal you, but crowds of enemies fire at you first since you look... unusual. Otherwise I assume people just value rarity.
