The second Etrian Odyssey remake is really good. Strange Journey ruined all the character portraits and added new "true" endings to each path that imply the original endings are meaningless, and involve an insufferable mary sue badly jammed into the story. Weirdly it doesn't even add 3D to the first person 3D Dungeons like Soul Hackers did.

Is there at least a DLC that gives you the original art back like with radient historia? If not then I will probably just play both lol.

The Radient historia one added some ok stuff but I think it could have been better since you have to 100% the game on new game plus (After 100 percenting it once) to get the true ending.

Never understood why they remade Radiant Historia and changed the art for the main character. Besides that though, Radiant Historia is a pretty good game and has an excellent take on turn-based combat. The time travel mechanic was also a lot of fun and collecting all the variant endings and bad endings was nifty.

Etrian 1 benefited from a remake because it was a rough first attempt - a lot of QOL features missing, off-kilter plot, and a postgame that entailed ludicrous amounts of grinding and/or theorycrafting.
Etrian 2 was very nearly perfect to begin with, and the remake was superfluous.

As the remakes they made went on the worse they got. I think it was incredibly lazy for Atlus to rerelease all of their DS games (Except Etrian Odyssey III and some Trauma Center games) on the next console for full or more than full price. OP game is the worst case where they made the character art into garbage and sold the original as DLC.
They're doing more remaking now with Nocturne and I hold the stance that if you buy that for the price it's going now you're just retarded. There's nothing in there that can be construed as worth the money they're asking for it. I got Nocturne on the PSN for $5 a few years ago and it was essentially upscaled into HD by the PS3.

I hated Bravely Default because the story only gets good at the end. Even if the game has a unique story you still have to slog through generic JRPG shit you have seen a thousand times

Gameplay-wise the sequel is better, but only because it has some much-needed QoL adjustments. Apart from that, you can see a quite a few corners have been cut through reused assets.

Could you really make it without motion or touch controls? It'd lose a bit of itself if it moved from that.

As for overall plot, Team was barely connected to the plots from the first 3 games, Naomi aside. They could just make it a bit of a gaiden series, but its a dead franchise. Honestly doubt it'd even get a rerelease
