The King's Avatar is a tv show based around imaginary e-sports. It's awful and has constant CCP dick sucking.
I've seen worse, it's just boring and has a bunch of forgettable characters. At least the parts where they're gaming are fun to watch. Where was the CCP worship in the show though?

As people have answered it before, the simplest answer is the difference in culture. Japan has quite big "free of speech/creativity" mentality one their creatives industry, so much so its equal with the US perhaps. The difference then is in the Comiket culture Japan has. Sure they might also have strict copyright enforcement like in the US, but through places like Comiket they have the ability to freely make things using people's IP, as long as they still respect the original owners wishes. Comiket Culture, or rather Asian cultures, also favors collaboration and teamworks with other people. By competing with, learning, and at the same time helping others, Japanese creators has the ability to improve their crafts more so than other countries. So far the only place I can think of that has the relatively similar culture is just South Korea.
