Announced two years ago, and they've been recently promoting the fact that they're starting up after the NFL season ends. First game of the season starts in an hour.

A couple days ago my google voice account that I haven’t touched in years got a call from a Justin Sheer of the New York Guardians saying that they wanted to reach out to me and organize a game in MetLife stadium. Obviously this was a wrong number, but I was just blown away because I forgot the XFL existed

Nah, the only OG XFL-esque stuff they're keeping is getting more mic'd up audio from coaches and on-field interviews. They added rules to address complaints about the NFL, so the kickoff is revised, they've adjusted post-touchdown extra point options to all be geared towards getting in the end zone instead of kicking it through the uprights, etc. There's an overview here:

So far I'm liking this game. That TD pass from Daniels to Proehl was sexy as hell, and aside from some inconsistent tackling the level of play is waaaaaaay closer to NFL caliber than the first attempt.

I kinda like it with all the different nuances from the NFL. I can't tell if I like or hate the in game interviews. It's a cool idea, but they all just say the cookie-cutter sayings--I want some trash talk, personality, anything.

I just want to this last so there is a draft to get some of that college talent in the league. They really need to get a superstar to be the face of the league.

It's still been very carny and I love it. Interviewing people right after major plays, whether they screwed up or not, is Vince's attempt to catch players in the heat of the moment and cause controversy. Like the dude yelling "we're just trying to get our fuckin' job done" on live TV. And when they mic a coach making a play the fans don't like you hear the boos, makes it feel like a heel turn or something.

I want some trash talk, personality, anything.

This is definitely what they're attempting, which is why they only seem to do interviews directly after plays

I really wish they went with cooler uniforms. They all look like teams when you relocate one in Madden and have to chose generic uniform/logos. I want to see some of that wild shit in the NCAA.

Interesting game, shaky start though, as to be expected.

After getting over the first game nerves, I don't know whether it was stunning LA incompetence or strong Houston plays. But the Wildcats got thoroughly dicked over by the Roughnecks.

We will see. They have had a one year head start on the AAF to get the admission side of things all sorted out. But these guys have really only had about one month of camp to get to know each other and the system. So we will see how it progress.

To defend the Wild Cats QB he got traded by the New York Guardians to the Wild Cats last month and only had like 5 team practices.

I am either going for the Defenders or the Dragons if they can pull their head out of their ass.

Houston had a pretty bad time the first half. I'm leaning more towards LA incompetence given how hotheaded and flustered their QB got
