some inconsistent tackling
I was listening to some of the post game interviews on the XFL YouTube channel and from what I have gathered no team has had full tackle practice beyond one pre-season scrimmage. They are running their practices like the modern NFL with no tackle practice so it going to be a rough two or three weeks until people get their tackle legs back.

I really wish they went with cooler uniforms. They all look like teams when you relocate one in Madden and have to chose generic uniform/logos. I want to see some of that wild shit in the NCAA.

I like the Maryland one, but the USA one would look a lot better if they didn't have that silly looking ACU pattern. If they wanted a military pattern, they should have gone with multicam.

I'm thinking about backing the Renegades. Gotta see how their first game goes tonight.

Best moment of the league so far is Dillon Day saying 'we're trying to get our fucking job done' uncensored on live tv.

After watching the Huston game I can say for sure, I like the XFL a lot.

It's going to take a few games for the teams to get their shit together and really play well but I think when they get their shit together this will be way more fun to watch than the NFL. The ref management alone was fucking great and I love the new extra point system, I think it makes games way more interesting. It feels like they're doing everything right minus maybe having to many mid game interviews, but even then I kind of enjoy the show boating and stuff like all the players from the roughnecks posing on the side lines mid game, I think it could lead to some fun to watch rivalry that doesn't end in roided up players whacking the other team with their helmets.

Also big props to the XFL for basically paying homage/flat out ripping the Oilers, I love that logo and uniform and hope the QB they got keeps showing the promise he did last night. Lets hope for a good season and maybe some more teams in some less loved places next year, I think Ohio, SC, and like New Mexico could use a real Football team, hell give Alabama something even. That's probably the big thing for me I think the XFL really needs to build off of areas that don't really have a dedicated NFL team next to build some new fanbases or they could spitefully build where teams have moved from too.

So first quarter is done with the Tampa at NY it’s been pretty good so far, interceptions, a 6.5/10 touch down and Fox has toned down on the interviews so far. As I am typing this just had a 45 yard pass to a 10 yard touchdown pass for NY. Tampa needs to show some fight or this will get boring.

Now we got this dude.

Found the incomplete pass/fumble call weird. It's suppose to be possession and one foot for a completion but suddenly it's NFL rules of two feet today?

Maybe someone will finally give Louisville some love. God knows they've been trying hard enough to get a pro sports team for the past 30 years. :optimistic:

Got to say if the ESPN guys can keep pat macphee on as their sideline guy, it makes the entire game way more entertaining when it’s a bit of a slug fest. He just knows how to talk to the guys and make it entertaining. On to the last game of Sunday night.

The Battle Hawks vs the Renegades.
Super sloppy first half followed by some amazing QB play from Jordan Ta'amu of the Battle Hawks. Had some good passes, but what stood out for me was his athleticism in the QB runs. The designed QB runs that Jordan had really shifted the momentum to the Battle Hawks in the second half which lead to their victory.

Renegades have a stout defense and out of the 8 teams they are neck and neck with The Guardians for the number 1 defense in the league. Granted only after one week. Their defense kept them in the game for the first half and a bit into the second. But with their back up QB in for their injured starter they couldn’t get points on the board and the Hawks just wore down the Renegades. Because of the back up QB in for this game it’s hard to tell how their offense will do next week with their starter in.

Either way looking forward to next weekend to see how much the teams have evolved and learned from their first full games.

Greg Olsen was a little hard to listen to.
Greg didn't have a good flow or cadence for most of the broadcast, but for what its worth its his first time calling a "big" game. He might get better he definitely has the X's and O's down and does a decent job of getting that information across. Just needs to be more consistent with his attitude, he just sounded pissed with the Vipers QB situation.

I enjoyed the first weekend of the XFL more than I expected! I'm going to one of the games next week, too. Should be fun.

One thing that I find to be genius with the XFL's rules: They have managed to address the head injury problem with more efficiency than the NFL has managed to in the past decade. The XFL seems to realize that it's not the hard hitting tackles that cause the most injuries; it's the plays that encourage actual collisions. I think that the way the XFL does the kickoff is just common sense genius, as it actually addresses collisions without making up a ton of bullshit rules that do nothing but (a) ruin the game, and (b) make no actual improvements with the head injuries.

Roger Gooddell just got fucking pwned. By Vince MacMahon, of all people. Wrestling Entertainment has a continuous history of wrestlers dying young ... And the guy running that showcased more intelligence about protecting athletes than the guy who's in charge of the National Football League.
