The XFL general -

Okay so I haven't watched because I just don't have the time for sports watching* how are the announcers? I think the color commentary of sports games is a very underrated aspect of what can make or break the viewing experience. (This is why I think Esports still another decade away at least, the commentary is just garbage most of the time.)

No god damn really, sports games are Long, if I could watch them commercial free and at 2X speed that would be one thing but..do you know how many baseball games there are in a season? or Basketball?

You guys think that LA will have better attendance than the Chargers today? The other issue is LA having traffic issues preventing people to go to sporting events in the area.

Lol I wouldn’t count on it if they are still charging $60-$100 for parking. And they don’t have the advantage of away teams fan flooding the venue. When I went to the Vikings Chargers game it was like 8 to 9 thousand Vikings fans to maybe 2 to 3 thousand charger fans. Granted based of what info I dug up yesterday there was a little over 1,000 seats unsold and Dignity Health park holds 17,000 maxed out.

Here's hoping the Renegades destroy that other team from the worst state in the union today.

Is the XFL a work or a shoot?

Shoot. It's basically the exact opposite of what you'd expect from WWE football. It's real football with real players and real rules, and tons of innovation and experimentation. What's really interesting is that they have all the players, coaches, and officials miked up so you can hear their conversations and calls on the field. And there are commentators on the sidelines constantly running interviews with them. So in an odd parallel to WWE, you get this genuine real time drama and storyline instead of manufactured kayfabe. Warts and all. Like Guardians QB McGloin's salty embarrassing meltdown yesterday. It's way more intimate and much less scripted, soulless, and corporate than the NFL. It's interesting as hell. The teams aren't quite in the groove yet but the games have been entertaining nonetheless. Highly recommend to anyone who hasn't been watching yet. First time I've been excited for football in years.

The St Louis Houston game has been great so far. A good mix of offense and decent defense
Favorite play from the game so far.

Late response, but it’s good very laid back and for the most part the cringe is there but it’s at acceptable levels.

In case this wasn't a rhetorical question, MLB plays 162 regular season games and the NBA plays 82.

It will take time for players/teams to adjust the significant rules differences, but that games I've watched so far have been entertaining enough to make them worth watching.

Last week, I read someplace that the coaches were surprised to hear how many of their play calls made it on the air -- necessitating adjustments to the names/signals for the coming week(s).

Every single one of these games get really fun in the second half. This Renegades/Wildcats game is great right now
Even though I didn't get to see the closing minutes of this game, it was still a very exciting game to watch with neither team leading by 4-5 points up through the midway point of the fourth quarter.

Are they informative about the game and how it is played?
If you are just listening to it you should get the gist of what is going on as it’s an NFL style broadcast. But as @Iron Hamster said the 25 second play clock and no clock stoppage for incomplete passes or out of bound runs/catches clock makes it hard for in-depth analysis.

I am no Football fan by any means, but I hope the XFL lasts longer than one season this time. The Modern NFL has a lot of shadiness behind it and it be good for culture to have an alternative.

I'm really pushing for the XFL right now. I like football, but hate the NFL, and all the alternatives I've had so far are Arena and Canadian football. Arena is too tight and niche, and I will be damned if I give a shit about a sport involving Canadians where you can't skate and beat the shit out of each other.

Also I've seen them use the in-helmet camera and I don't know why they don't film from there during plays every once in a while. It might be because I don't get motion sickness, but I would really want to see a good view of being there on the field and going for it.

I think they just put a TV camera in the helmet. As far as I know there is no in-helmet camera for the game.
