Yakuza is trending both due to the Judgement sequel announcement and because of this.

Opinions seem deivided between people who played and loved Like A Dragon and people who hate turn based RPGs. But if Ichiban is going to be the main character, it makes sense to stick to turn-based since it fits his personality. Not that I don’t understand some people being upset, giving the gender change 7+ games in.

Did you just assume my genre?

That kinda gives the sense that Judgement is going to be the continuation of classic Yakuza going forward, so fans will still get their share of new Yakuza titles under a new name.

That's pretty great, really. I hope both Judgment and Yakuza parallel each other over time, seeing as though they take place in the same universe at the same time. It'd be hilarious to see Takayuki and Ichiban fight each other in their respective games to see just how different their perspectives look, like we could see what's actually happening when Ichiban sees himself slamming a birthday cake in his opponent's face as an attack.

I don't see the issue with it since I enjoy both in their own way. I think Yakuza definitely needed to be reinvented and they did it beautifully. Only thing they need to do is just further refine the mechanics. Go full Suikoden and give me 100 possible party members or some shit.

If you're not a fan of that, then Judgment is right there. Gameplay loop is just as satisfying and the new perspective to Kamurocho is greatly appreciated.

Since the new Judgment is apparently going to Ijincho in some form or another, there has to be some kind of overlap or interaction with Ichiban right?

I don't mind the change at all. I like both styles of game and there have been 7 mainline Yakuza games with real time combat so a change will do it good.

I also didn't realise that the Series X version of Judgement is out already, thought it was later in the year for some reason. Only €40 as well but i'm sure if i buy it it'll be announced for Gamepass tomorrow.

I hope they fix up the combat.
I'm almost 10 hours into Judgement now and yeah, the one thing they need to do is up the starting combo speed because holy shit at the beginning you put out one attack ever 2 seconds it feels like.

Does Judgment play exactly like Yakuza games pre-7? if not this is just plain shit. I know the approved opinion amongst certain Western cliques of Tumblr Marxist-mentality people and the folks who seem to only know the series from stupid memes and go "I love these heckin' good smol crime boys and wholesome himbos who rumble with fascist cops!" on Yakuza is "only good for the story" but fuck that, I liked them being beat-em-ups and there's nothing else quite like that around.

I've heard plenty of examples of those first two things coming out of Tumblr/Twitter children, but I've never heard the praise for "rumbling with fascist cops" angle. Since when do you ever really fight the police in the Yakuza games outside of 4?

Gender change? I would love a woman protagonist tbh.

I like Saeko a lot
She's fun. And Eri is a fucking beast with her boxcutter.

Not 'exactly', because you aren't playing Kiryu, unstoppable wrecker of faces and limbs, but it's closer than, like, Isshin or Lost Paradise.

Galaxy brain answer is playing yakuza for the mini game collections
Also just started 3 remastered and the crane game is way too easy, that shit is supposed to make me feel cheated and frustrated

Fun fact: Eri is actually the best character in the game and she should be switched to Dealer ASAP and NEVER taken out of your party afterwards. Spamming Darts Airstrike will generally win you almost every single fight easily, and in the rare few cases where it won't, Jackpot Chip will cover for it.

Yagami has his own styles (Tiger and Crane) but it's very much a more direct sequel to Yakuza 0-6 in terms of gameplay.

Shadow Step was OP too, and I think that's just a skill she gets as a Clerk that she keeps between classes.

Kinda weird how the story cutscenes just kinda treated her like a ghost, though.
Especially when Nanba leaves the party for a little while, so she automatically fills in his gap and, just, kinda nobody acknowledges it at all.

Then again, for all I know, she and Ichiban Confections might have just been a figment of Kasuga's imagination. That'd explain a lot.

I thought about doing another playthrough without touching the whole business minigame at all, but mother of GOD that's gonna make the Kiryu fight so much harder.

It’s because she’s technically an optional party member. You can play the entire game with her, so she couldn’t be given important lines or anything like that, since some people may not even touch the business minigame.
