Judgment's getting a sequel.

As a person that actually thought Judgment looked cool, I’m hoping this one is better, or as good, as than the original

Yakuza is trending both due to the Judgement sequel announcement and because of this.

Opinions seem deivided between people who played and loved Like A Dragon and people who hate turn based RPGs. But if Ichiban is going to be the main character, it makes sense to stick to turn-based since it fits his personality. Not that I don’t understand some people being upset, giving the gender change 7+ games in.
If it can get more play the Yakuza series as their first entry to turn-based RPGs, then I honestly see no issue in this. I’m more interested to see what the new story will be like if Ichiban is the main lead.

It’s because she’s technically an optional party member. You can play the entire game with her, so she couldn’t be given important lines or anything like that, since some people may not even touch the business minigame.
That's true, though it's kind of strange how they don't even have her at least hanging out in the background. I know it's a small thing, but I would have liked to see how she gets along with the rest of the group. Like how does she get along with Saeko? The only other woman you ever see Saeko interacting with is Seong-Hui, and they clash like oil and water.

I like the idea of Ichiban Confections just being another thing in Kasuga's head, since it would make sense with how he just kinda becomes a business magnate overnight and the entire process is super simplified, with none of it involving the rest of the party, including Adachi, who is permanently in the party for the rest of the game by the time the business is unlocked.

Apparently the character herself is a fictionalized version of the Japanese VA, who got her part as a optional party member via an open audition call. That would be pretty awesome, getting put in a Yakuza game as a party member. Would explain why he interactions were so minimal, given that they had to wait to cast someone before creating the model and all.

Yakuza 0 had the same problem, since Kiryu should be wealthy as fuck by the time Yakuza roles around. Just think of it as “the Business Dimension”.

True, but they sorta explain it away with the bubble bursting(thank you Majima) completely screwing Kiryu over. Kinda weak, but that's what happens when you give characters shit in the prequel that they can't have later on.

Look man it's not majima's fault that suggesting a tax that a retarded government official went with completely destroyed the Japanese economy, only mostly

I would agree except Kiryu mentions his time as a real estate agent multiple times in substories during kiwami 1 and 2. I think it's as king of nothing said, it's probably a combo of the bubble bursting along with kiryu being so taken in by scams and helping people he just blew it all on others.

Started Judgment recently. Only a couple hours in, but this is slow, even for Yakuza standards. And all the investigative stuff with the looking around and drone is very ehhh.

I didn't see an option saying "Do you want to skip this part?"
Just lose every main Idol song event. The story isn't skippable but once you have started the idol stage section, you can go to the other two manditory ones immediately. If you play through those songs (win or lose) once, you can continue to the fighting parts again.

Kiryu's not so charitable as to blow all of his money on helping others, I wouldn't think.

I'm more inclined to think he must've squirreled it away when it started depreciating, because Kiryu never exactly ends up destitute from Yakuza 1 going forward. I mean, fuck, the man was able to buy an orphanage in Yakuza 3, and his living conditions both before the orphanage and afterwards are never completely poor in quality either. Kiryu's just a guy who tends to live below his means most of the time, it seems like.

Whenever he isn't spending half of his life in prison, that is.

Gotta admit it's nice to be able to go down a street and not have a dozen fuckers jump you because you had the audacity to run in their presence.

The entire Yakuza 0 real estate minigame (and upgrade system and "throwing money at people" system) were a direct reference to the Japanese Real Estate bubble that was happening during the time Yakuza 0 was happening. The Y0 version is a bit exaggerated, but a lot of what Kiryu bought in the 80s likely depreciated greatly during his time between Y0 and Y1.

Kiryu doesn't own the orphanage, he just runs it. The landlord is actually a semi-prominent character in Y3 as well.

Just finished Yakuza 0, my first entry in the series. Am I going to be slightly disappointed by the gameplay/graphics going further into the series for a bit since 0 was a prequel?
