While this thread was locked, TYT had some interesting moments during the election season. Especially Cenk flipping out on Alex "Tinfoil" Jones.

Perhaps the tipping point of their salt was the election results.

A few months after the election, they decided that it was a good idea to be "different from the mainstream".

It's pretty much the Fuck Trump Channel With a little bit of college stuff for my millennial friends.

They still flip out over the Armenian genocide though.

Cenk by a country mile. He's a poster boy for people becoming so open-minded their brain fell out in the process, and the cognitive dissonance he regularly experiences results in him being a) prone to loud emotional outbursts, and b) easy as hell to trigger. All Alex Jones had to do to provoke a fist fight was hold up a "BILL CLINTON IS A RAPIST INFOWARS.COM" shirt and be friendly to them.

I thought even as recently as a year ago that if you got Ana off the network she would calm the fuck down and basically turn into Dave Rubin, but at this point she's probably too far gone. Shrieking liberal harpy she may be, but she's still harder to trigger than Cenk is.

I usually think of the "so open minded their brain fell out" types as people over-compensating for their own prior beliefs that they refuse to condemn nearly anything done by their new side. Cenk was raised by conservative Muslims and exclusively voted Republican until the early 2000's. His chief reason for flipping to progressivism was the Iraq War, and he adopts increasingly loony left-wing positions to compensate for his very publicly conservative past. He and Jimmy are very similar in that a lot of their left-wing positions are motivated by guilt over their past attitudes. That's probably why Jimmy will never leave TYT, as he is essentially a Catholic version of Cenk.

I really don't know what to think about Ana, except that she's become an increasingly hostile and ugly person over the past 3 years, inside and out. Whether that's due to groupthink in the madhouse that is TYT or issues in her own life I can't say.

Cenk is a whore with no actual dedication to anything at all. Nobody who denies genocide really has any attachment to objective truth and anything else such a person says is suspect.

Even though Jimmy spat on Alex Jones, which is gross and totally unwarranted, I do think that of the whole lot, Jimmy may be the only true progressive among them (or at least the most sincere in his progressive views). Most of the others voted for Clinton and think they can rehabilitate the Democratic party by primarying the establishment candidates, but Jimmy voted third party and since the election he has been shitting on the Dems' every misstep and advocating true progressives leave the Dems for third party. And while the rest of them are still peddling the Russian collusion and election interference myth just as the Democratic establishment desires, Jimmy and Michael Tracy did not have any of it from the start. And Jimmy was also very staunchly non-interventionist throughout this whole Syria thing, even when John and Ana and some of the others were going to flip because chemical weapons.

Also I think it's pretty funny that Ana keeps altering her appearance to be whiter and less ethnic. First with the nose job, now with the blonde hair dye, the only thing she is missing now are the blue contact lenses.

Yes, and he named his network after the Turkish political party that carried out the genocide. He previously openly denied it ever happened and when he got blowback defaulted to "I'm not educated enough on the matter to form an opinion".

One thing that stood out to me in particular was during their election night coverage when the very first Florida results started to trickle in, his asshole clinched up sooner than anybody else because he immediately caught on to the fact that Trump was only a little behind Hillary despite the fact that all of the early votes (which where overwhelmingly in her favor) were supposed to be factored in from the start.

So he's not dumb, he just gets way to worked up about things.

I disagree. Cenk and TYT constantly espouse the exact kind of idiotic identity politics in lieu of actual policy that cost the Democrats the election this year, and even on their election night coverage Jimmy and Cenk were the only ones who really started to get mad at the neoliberal wing of the party for throwing the election to keep Hillary. Everyone else, including Ana and the token Mexican whose name I can't be assed to remember, stuck to the same "fuck white people, fuck blue collar workers, if you voted Trump you're a moron" rhetoric that cost them the election.

And in wake of that election Cenk is leading the charge alongside the entire rest of his network (except Jimmy Dore in his brief moments of lucidity) in doubling down on that kind of rhetoric and continuing to demonize anyone who disagrees with progressive orthodoxy as a hateful cult of backwards, gun-toting, bible-thumping Deliverance extras whose sole motivation in life is the reinstatement of slavery and establishing a Christian theocracy.

He may be good at telling when his goose is cooked, but he's utter rubbish at understanding why.
