Recently some guy made an app that removes people's make-up. Its intended purpose is to help make it easier to identify victims of human trafficking.

People...aren't too happy about this.

Like everything else these days, BLAME RUSSIA!

They tried to get the creator back by using it on him, only to fall flat on their asses:

Because everybody who uses this app is serious and immediately upholds superficial standards. There is no reason why anyone would just use the app for fun, apparently.

Now I am confused. When women use makeup, it's misogyny, because "horrible patriarchy and fuck beauty standards". It's very ironic that a group dedicated to doing away with "false beauty constructs" by glorifying "being yourself", "body positivity", and showcasing their authentic selves can be so offended at an app that effectively allows them to "be themselves".

Are they angry because the app is inaccurate? Based on their reactions, they are too busy calling men insecure for wanting to see other women barefaced and for having "superficial" standards, so many of them are clearly angry that the app does what it does rather than how effective it is.

Isn't it kind of misogynistic to tie the value of a woman to the amount of make up she has caked in her face?! And of course the app is not accurate. As already said it's a simple algorithm.

So, short/concise version: A guy made an app for shits and giggles that goes off a simple(for actual coders I assume, I don't code for shit)algorithm, which is really just a fun toy for people to fuck around with for a bit, and the only ones negatively reacting to this are a. media/journalism that either tries to push a narrative or is too caught up in said narrative to know lies from truth, and b. women who are inadvertently revealing that, despite all the claims of being yourself, that makeup is a sexist tool and standard, they are genuinely pissed and afraid at the mere notion that men whom they want nothing to do with can see even a perceived semblance of what they look like without that evil and misogynistic makeup on. So at this point it's a catch 22, if I'm using that term right. Either valuing women wearing makeup is sexist and misogynistic, or valuing women not wearing makeup is sexist and misogynistic, and the narrative is trying to push both arguments.

Also, opinion, but I personally stop valuing peoples' arguments when they immediately shoot right for the "get a fucking life" angle unless the thing they're bitching about is in fact THAT useless and dumb(which would oddly be these people and their shitting the floor over MakeApp).

Actually it was apparently made to help cops find victims of sex-trafficking easier, because said victims often get their faces caked in makeup to make them less recognizable.

Which really puts into perspective how selfish and egotistical these awful people who are mad about this are.
