I heard some people wanted a MrEnter thread. Well, here you go!

Before some people ask, "who the fuck is this Enter guy?" Well, he's a guy known for reviewing animated shows like Spongebob, Family Guy and so on, often blasting them due to being too gross, terrible and mean-spirited. He also hates some of Spongebob's new animators and writers to the point where he wants them blacklisted and fired (why he takes a shitty cartoon family, two cartoon sea creatures, cartoon horses and so on dead seriously is way beyond me).

Deep down tho, he's quite the little sperg (literally), having a large ego and rabid fanbase. For example, he had an ED page that he vandalized and got the banhammer as a result while his fans cheered him on.

I'm not the biggest expert on this guy, but people like McRascal and KFC sum him up perfectly, even better than what I can say in general:

Mr. Enter is a fucking asshole. First of all, he was a total dick to Casey Alexander. It was perfectly okay to dislike the episodes he worked on, but to harass him and then deliberately drive his fanbase against him is just total bullshit. Second, his fans are extremely autistic. If you say one bad thing about this bloke on the internet, they will destroy you.

In general, he can't even do a proper review. His review are filled with poor editing and him screaming like a little boy. He is also very obsessive over certain shows. In most reviews, no matter what the topic, there is a good chance he will go out of his way to reference Spongebob or My Little Pony.

The funniest part about all of this is his ego. He seriously made a video of critical advise, despite having very little experience as a critic. Not to mention, the video was about dealing with trolls. If you could learn anything about trolls from Mr. Enter, it would be that all trolls are cyberbullies and that you should scream at them until they go away.

All in all, Mr. Enter is a douche.

"Do reviews still because... "it keeps people waking up in the morning." Umm... I've seen and anticipated reviews that were really, really worth it but I don't think it'd be healthy for someone to continue life just so they can see your newest video.

"Even if a troll has valid reasons for disliking your videos, beyond them disagreeing with your opinion, it isn't worth listening to." He says because the chances are someone said the same thing but in a more civilized manner, which I understand, you're gonna get upset when someone is speaking or sounding rude to you. But if a troll is giving you legit reasons to fix something or why they had 'valid reasons' for not liking your video... isn't that constructive criticism? He then shows a list of what are valid/invalid comments to tell the differences... which his examples are terrible. He tried to explain that trolls are the ones giving NO criticism, just insults, but goes on to say they can have 'valid reasons' that you shouldn't listen to. It's not very consistent and sounds like he just doesn't like receiving tough love when people are probably frustrated by his poor choice of wording.

Then he goes on with a very immature rant on trolls and trolling. I can understand the frustration, dude, but this is a video about keeping calm. Keep... calm. Then he says he gets complaints about his MLP addiction but is surprised that the complaints 'aren't from trolls'. So what makes a troll, Mr. Enter? People who have different opinions than you? People who don't like how/what he reviews are listed in his "reasons I'm hated/trolled." I can completely believe a bunch of spergs whine about him having different opinions but... he's essentially doing the exact same thing, here. People CAN and WILL get tired of some jokes, preferably MLP, which is mainly because the hype for it is so strung out that even fans are tired of hearing about it. The same as when people do an LP of a video game that EVERYONE ELSE is reviewing at the same time... and they're being biased about how great the game is just because they like it.

For the second video: he handles the other man's beautiful videos and writing with a completely flat, linear opinion that any sort of teasing or 'trolling' online means you are one of those same people who makes vile, mind-numbingly disturbing posts online or has bullied someone into suicide. Using emotion during a review can make it better, but that does not mean your emotion should be uncontrolled. Enter is using his emotions to say "this guy doesn't like trolling, I don't like trolling." He's not looking deeper into it, he's just saying "people bother other people because they suck." No, not really. Lots of times it's to call people out, to get others to stop being actual dangerous sources to more sensitive people. (Though again, just get off the internet if you can't handle it. Example: I never comment on youtube because I don't want to get rude replies or to see other people's comments.) People like Vade are not helpless individuals. Any and all lolcows we encounter could easily ignore any trolling but they refuse to. There is a difference between going on your computer to reply to hateful emails and being forced to go to school and unable to get away from a gang of kids ready to beat you into a pulp. Internet bullying IS real, but again, no one handles it correctly and tries to make it into a wildfire instead of focusing on the legitimate problems.

Enter wants an excuse to validate his immaturity towards handling online strangers who are mean to him. He can't be the better person if he constantly is saying "you're mean, stop giving me your opinion! This is why it's okay for me to give opinion but say your opinion is you being a troll!" I get what he's trying to say, and I know the topic itself is up for debate, but he is NOT the person to discuss it or act like he can give us all a clearer understanding of it when he himself is not understanding it.

Oh and most of the video is him pointing out the obvious from the other guy's lines like we couldn't even follow. Nasty people have existed since the dawn of man, but internet made it easier for them to be noticed. This is not a new epidemic, this is not a new age. Psychopaths and dickwads have been among us for thousands of years.

Honestly, I've been half expecting this guy to get a thread here for a while now. I actually used to be a fan of his, but then his videos started to devolve from "here are the flaws in this legitimately bad episode/show" into "watch me steal clips from the Nostalgia Critic and shriek about fart jokes for ten minutes." He also has a huge ego; he's trying to produce his own cartoon that he thinks is the greatest show ever made, and refuses to listen to any criticism on it despite it being, honestly, pretty bland and uninspired. (The show is entirely centered on the idea that the kids are in charge of the adults. That's totally never been done before.)
Dang, Soradawn beat me to some of this, haha.

The name of his cartoon is Growing Around, he took the concept from Shorty McShorts Shorts cartoon "Flip Flopped". He has hopes of pitching it to Cartoon Network.

He has three collaborators on board:

Reading all of this, now I regret liking MrEnter a while ago, even in the slightest and long into the past when I was a lot dumber. Of course, I never paid Mr. Enter much heed to begin with, and now I am glad I didn't.

Also, Mr. Enter has autism? Do give me proof of him explicitly saying he has that disorder to back up that claim. No seriously, I'm morbidly curious. I haven't watched all of his videos, and don't plan on raking through hundreds of his videos for one quote to cite some claim made by detractors for the sake of my sanity.

From his DA journal:

Asperger's Syndrome
A lot of people have been asking me about Asperger's syndrome and some of my experiences with it and some of the conditions. This is largely because, on the internet at least, I seem to be good at hiding it. Most people I meet here don't know that I have Asperger's syndrome unless I directly tell them. I do have it, but what exactly does it mean? First off all, please don't use this as a way to diagnose yourself. If you think that you have Asperger's syndrome, depression, or any other mental condition please see a licensed psychiatrist. You cannot self-diagnose mental conditions. (Hmmm... I kind of have that symptom sometimes, I MUST have this disorder!) Asperger's syndrome is known as a high-functioning autism, and as such many of the symptoms are similar, and yet, in some ways it's very different.

The most notable symptoms of Asperger's syndrome come from issues with social interaction. Most people seem to notice this because there are a lot of people claiming to be an asshole on the internet because they have asperger's syndrome. Asperger's syndrome does not make you an asshole. What it means is that they have a hard time learning all of the non-verbal parts of social interaction, like body language. Believe it or not, one thing that I cannot do with people I don't know very well (even some people I do) is look them directly in the eye. It locks me into anxiety. I'm able to get around this by looking in the general-eye area when I have to do that, but that's just me. And yes, social anxiety is very common in Asperger's syndrome, although it most likely isn't a direct syndrome. People with Asperger's syndrome tend to stick to themselves in school and such, and the kids who stick to themselves tend to be picked on. It actually would not be easy for them to break out into conversations because it's physically and mentally exhausting. If I've had an extended conversation with a lot of people by the time I get to bed I have a headache and I'm fatigued, almost as if I did a workout.

Asperger's syndrome might not explain why I've been an asshole to someone, but it does explain why lately I've been obsessed with Pokemon. One of the hallmarks of asperger's syndrome is how they react to their hobbies and interests. Once they find something that they like doing, they need to learn everything about it, and can spend days/weeks on that particular thing. Sometimes though, those interests change. Yes, a person with Asperger's syndrome can have their entire life revolve around model planes one month and then 80's sitcoms the next. Even though it often changes, don't knock their passion. It can go up to almost fetish-levels of interest. On the plus side though, they seem to rotate. This isn't the first time that I've personally gotten this into Pokemon. This is kind of a double-edged sword though. These rotating interest can actually make it hard to find a career that they'll be happy with for a sustained period of time. On the other hand, they pick up a lot of knowledge on various activities and may make good writers (the more knowledge you have on fringe subjects, the better). Coincidentally, people with Asperger's Syndrome are very easy to shop for. So yes, if you're wondering why lately I've been obsessed with Pokemon I can legitimately blame it on Asperger's syndrome. The only time this becomes a problem is if I start to derail conversations to talk about my latest interest. You're free to call me out on that if I o it.

The way people with Asperger's syndrome think is a little bit weird. Remember that joke in Family Guy where Quagmire is listening to a radio song in his head? Well, that's actually kind of the way that I think... except instead of songs, it's movies. My memories and thoughts are highly visual, and yes, this has been an absolute blessing in writing my scripts for my reviews. It also leads to highly logical thinking, and I mean Phoenix Wright level of "logic." This is why sometimes I give the weirdest metaphors. This is why they have a hard time socially interacting. Society is not logical. People are no logical. They do unpredictable things, and unpredictability, a place where things cannot be properly accounted for, is a nightmare to someone with Asperger's Syndrome. People with Asperger's Syndrome tend to speak their mind without regards to the feelings of others. This has been a blessing and curse to me, if you've seen well, any of my videos. But on the bright side that kid who says he insulted you because he had asperger's syndrome? You can rest assured knowing that that was his actual opinion and he's not trying to hide it.

One of the best media portrayals of Asperger's syndrome I can even remember is River in To the Moon. There are some spoilers here, so if you haven't played the game, go do that. River wants to tell her husband Johnny of a secret between the two of them, so she keeps making origami rabbits. Johnny has memory problems, so there isn't a way for him to "get it." Most people would think that the easy way out is just for River to tell Johnny the secret, and to most people yeah, it is. To a person with Asperger's syndrome communication is a huge problem. They do these things, almost to the point of speaking in code, and hope for the other person to "get it." This is because this is the easiest way for them do things. They may do a weird action on purpose, hoping that you'll ask for it because they don't know the appropriate time to start a conversation. However, this isn't working because the weird action isn't as weird as they thought, or to think that the action is weird the other person would need significant knowledge of a sub-culture or interest.

This has actually been the most apparent for me, and the one I've had the hardest time dealing with. I fully know what I should say to a person for them to understand what I'm thinking, but at points I almost physically do not have the ability to do so. And oddly enough, it's more hindering with people that I know personally than the ones that I don't. The best thing you can really do is ask them questions to get a conversation started. Just keep in mind that you're going to be the one to constantly keep the conversation going. Also, if they seem annoyed, they probably want to be left alone. And yes, they are likely to keep doing this one thing until someone gets the hint... even if they never do.

Some other things? Extremely sensitive to sensory information. For me, it's specifically touch and taste. I cannot wear a tie or turtleneck, or it legitimately feels like someone is choking me. I find ketchup too spicy (I know that it's more tangy; the taste of the vinegar in it registers similar to spicy in my mind). So yeah, I cannot eat even foods that most people don't consider spicy because it's too intense for me. There are also foods that I don't like solely based on the texture, like onions. The texture of receipts legitimately grosses me out. You know that feeling you get when you're about to pick up dog shit? Imagine a slightly less intense version of it when I'm about to pick up a receipt. And sleeping? Not if it isn't silent and completely dark. I can focus on a mundane task for a lot longer than most people. I'm able to do extremely tedious work for hours on end.

Keep in mind that how severe someone has Asperger's Syndrome does vary from person to person, and some people may have more than one condition, or they may have personal quirks that are just them and not any specific mental condition. It's also not an excuse for being an asshole. I don't even think that it's an explanation really. But yeah, for those of you asking, that's what having Asperger's Syndrome is like.

I'm debating whether or not I'm gonna analyze more of his videos in general or as specific ones. I actually thought he sounded familiar and realized I had watched one of his videos, the one about Patrick's worst episodes or something. I had liked the video because I liked seeing how some other people had explained why newer Spongebob was really bad and I thought it was interesting... until Mr. Enter just ranted and raved about stuff like how Patrick was killing Spongebob emotionally or he would be if it was real and how he's a sociopathic wannabe dictator or crazy stuff like that. For a show that is old news and about a sponge living in a pineapple.

For me his biggest problem is just his angry voice when he rants. He clearly can't just control himself and explain things in better detail so I don't know why people like to listen to him complain like Patrick is a real person and we need to stop him from hurting others.

How'd I know he was an autist. He got sensory overload from Problem Solvers. To be honest I like some of his content, but he's to much of a spastic for me to like him as a person. I remember he got in an argument over DA about someone not agreeing with him and made a ranttastic 15 minute video about it like a bitch. Nothing too terrible about the content, in that I do agree with him about spongebob tackling suicide as a comical issue is fucked up, but I hate how he deals with people that disagree with him.

Because that's totally never happened before. Oh, wait...

And I still think this shit is fucked up. I also still think he's a total fucking sped who doesn't know how to edit a video properly. In almost every single one of his videos he doesn't cut the sound properly, which ends up with this weird audio shit. He also has an obsession for Nostalgia Critic going so far as to quote him in a few of his videos and edit in material from episodes of NC's shows and put them in his. Also he has an irrational hatred of King of the Hill characters and concepts which makes me think he doesn't get satire. (and yes, i'm admitting to watching Nostalgia Critic and MysteriousMrEnter, but i'm also a total fucking idiot)

This is unsurprising. Considering how he basically said "Spongebob getting trapped in the wringer isn't comedy because people get trapped in places and things in real life a lot and it's not funny", I don't think he understands any form of comedy, let alone the dry and sometimes dark humor of a lot of adult comedies.

You're actually not alone in enjoying NC. For me he's a bit of a guilty pleasure, but I genuinely enjoy him at times, too.

But that's beside the point. What's this about his hatred for King of the Hill?

In one episode he gets pissed about Hank Hill being overly proud of being America and being an asshole about it accidentally (also called the premise of the show). He then says the person we're supposed to be against is Canadian and isn't as bad as Hank about being overly proud of being Canadian. Literally, it's like he doesn't get the concept of the show.

Like I said in the critics thread, what gets me about MrEnter is how absolutely serious he takes everything. Many online reviewers will scream and carry on, but they're usually just putting on a show. MrEnter talks about these cartoons like they came to his house and slaughtered his whole family, and he means every word of it. He can make a decent point or two every now and then (like the moral of Seashell Seahorse Party really was that bad) but for the most part he just comes across as a total spaz that needs to step away from the internet for a while.

And speaking as a casual MLP fan, his Pony reviews are kind of unbearable. It's like... he realizes this is a show for little girls, right? It's a well-written kid's show, but you can't expect EVERY SINGLE MORAL displayed to go into full depth. Every single Pony "reviewer" is incredibly autistic, really, but he's particularly bad. Like playing fucking dramatic Silent Hill 2 music over "Putting Your Hoof Down" and acting traumatized by a badly-written episode of a children's show. Or downplaying the surprisingly good moral of "Testing, Testing 1, 2, 3" ("Just because you learn differently from other people doesn't mean you're stupid") with a ramble about TEH EEEEEVIL AMERICAN EDUCATION SYSTEM.

TBH I didn't like this episode either. Not because of any of the reasons Mr. Enter comes up with, I just thought the story was pretty weak and not all that entertaining. (They also did basically the same story but better when Cotton went to Japan.) A decent reviewer probably would have spent most of their time focusing on that.

The part that really made my jaw drop was when he said universal healthcare was a better invention than penicillin. Wh... what!? What good would universal healthcare be if we didn't have penicillin?

Actually, there was something else that made my jaw drop. "Stereotypes are never funny." You're right, he really doesn't understand the premise of the show he's reviewing. He also talks about the show's poor moral at the end.... because adult cartoons are supposed to have those, I guess. Sure, it's nice when they have some kind of message or theme but it's not really important.
