Honestly, it's kinda expected.
South America is basically dry kindling ready to go up on a good day. A year of Covid restrictions and other economic problems compounding already existing economic issues will have things get hot quickly. Remember, we are basically talking about an entire continent where radical socialism revolutions are a normal part of the last 90+ years. Corruption is massive and everywhere. You can literally buy yourself anything and out of anything if you have enough money and know how to grease palms.

Ah, I see Paro Nacional is back... Not too surprising, Claudia Lopez has had all of fucking Bogota basically locked down since March 19, 2020. There are over ten million people in the metro area most of whom were poor as fuck before the lockdown, and are God knows how much poorer now. President Ivan Duque is a hopelessly corrupt retard, which also doesn't help. But not to worry, Colombia has dealt with way worse shit than this over its history.

I won't be surprised if Venezuela had learned some tricks from China about hiding some infos about mass starvation and all.
Usually they can look up to a life of prostitution (with the added risk of death) or informal jobs such as selling snacks in buses. They are still "accepted" though.
I just hope these protests don't end in violent riots and looting like the start of the 2019 strike did.

The situation in several Colombian cities has now deteriorated to the point where residents of some neighbourhoods have banded together to form vigilante defence groups, some of them armed. And the far-left are denouncing these groups as "white supremacists" who want to genocide the "peaceful indigenous protesters", because of course they are.

Hoards of criminals backed by far-left Marxist narco thugs are burning down your neighbourhood and you want to band together with your neighbours to try and stop them from doing that?
