When I first played Fallout 3 I had no knowledge of the series, and from the first few hours it gives off a standard Mad Max vibe. So the first time I went underground and encountered the feral ghouls came as a real surprise.
When younger Resident Evil was the first game I played that creeped me out, there was one room I didn't want to go in as I was convinced there was an enemy hiding under the bed. Props to the HD remake for giving me probably the biggest jumpscare when I first encountered the crimson heads that to that point I didn't know existed.
