I've been looking for a general bad art thread that doesn't necessarily mean eye-searing terrible or made by a lunatic and I guess this is the closest thing.
Backstory: I saw this on SJW Art and Extremes thread where a Japanese artist got chased off twitter because some newbies can't handle the fact that they might be beginners. Here is mrawesome45, who has his head really far up his own asshole to admit that he's not that good:

This one doesn't qualify as horrifically drawn, it's rendered really well. But I can't look at it without being reduced to ugly giggles, I mean just look at it!

What I love about how talented artists failing to even get a start comes from the fact that you need to know how to do business and be skilled in other fields, not just art. Yes, art is very important, but unfortunately, the world isn't looking for art from DeviantArt and Instagram to put up in museums, sorry. In this day and age, people want to see art applied to things. The only other place that is a source of money are comic book and anime conventions, or doing devoted webcomics or being hired by video game and animation companies, and even then, professional entries are no guarantee, because there are crowds of others who want the entry in, and unfortunately, they are going to learn how the machine and the grind works them hard to the bone and demand them to jump when they say jump if they are going in hoping to make their own series or something.
When it comes to manga and anime and manga styled art, and especially in a country that has little to no foundation for a "manga industry", it's practically a wild west, and I'm not talking about puns. And as I've been tracking down and witnessing, it's not just business, but personal integrity, professionalism and character. I only learned about Studio Ironcat through the Weeb Wars this year, and they are a massive explanation, along with RoosterTeeth and Crunchyroll on why it is going to take a long, long, long ass time and a wholly different approach if the West let alone the United States wants an anime and manga industry. Hell, I'll bend this a mite ways and connect this with the SJWs and Weeb Wars because no manga or anime has ever been a success with shit attitudes and overt politicized bias interfering with the creative process; ie a massive lack of personal integrity and censorship stemming from political and moral bias.
Mr. Awesome is never going to get off the ground because he's such a fatheaded hubris sucking dick who is more willing to spend his time on Twitter and not spend his time looking for connections or brushing up on his business skills or storytelling or find any opening of opportunity to make his mark in. He's going to be like the vast rest of DA and Instagram working at a plain job while his art is going to be a mere hobby until he dies or his passion does. Begging on Patreon isn't neither a way to live either, because that requires renown and getting around with self promotion and talent. He can go and whine about "how Japan hires hacks" but I bet the moment he reads all of my sperging and the reality of how the US isn't with a consistent artistic community or developed sense of business and social skills in its art world, he'll whine about how "kiwi farmers are meanie poo poo heads who doesn't appreciate his talents" because the truth cuts deeper than any sharp tool or implement.
Also, Mr. Awesome's art looks like something awfully inspired from Legend of Korra and Avatar The Last Airbender, which in my criticism already has a low grade from me, bias admitted. He's got eyes for details, but man, his expressions are flat. Wait, that was a chick?
If you know where to look and whose dick to suck, you can get a job or a large scale commission that'll last you a year or two. But according to actual pros I know, the biggest issue right now with the wave of artists entering is their lack of work ethic. Jim Lee and Ethan Van Sciver have talked about how the biggest limiter is work ethic. New artists are lazy. They don't want to draw the daily life scenes like Clark Kent getting out of bed or Tony Stark grabbing a coffee. They don't follow deadlines and they rely too heavily on 3D graphics and reference. It's just laziness.
One of the pros I've mentioned before told me that the inundation of newbies with anime art has really turned her off from it. She told me in private that she hates it and won't hook up people who draw in that style with jobs because it's so inbred and most people can't even do it right. What the industry wants is people who can copy house styles while having a distinct personal style that will grab consumer's eyes from a commercial on a television screen, or across a bookstore, etc.
Mr. Awesome is a lazy artist, you can see just by looking over his stuff. It's flat, his anatomy is dogshit, it's bland, no weight to his lines, no energy, and generic anime style that a good chunk of newbie artists drawn in, yeah, unless he swallows his ego down, he's fucked. Putting detail into your art doesn't make it good. In fact, too much detail can drag a piece down since it clutters it and takes away from the focus of the art. His detail is barely detail anyways, it looks like autistic scribbling. Industry folks don't want stuff like detail or super ornate art, they want energy and feeling because that's what grabs consumers.
Also the mangaka of SNK got denied from several publications because his art is so goddamn ugly. He was told to go back to art school. Not a good example. ONE was a webcomic artist and was only put into publication because Murata liked his comic and decided to team up with him and OPM became a huge hit. ONE can actually draw pretty well as shown in MP100, he just chooses to draw the way he does because it's now associated with him and it matches the tone of his stories really well.
