The link goes to this article where Moffat says that Sherlock isn't finished, meaning that the most delusional TJLC-ers will probably hold out, at least for a while longer.

I'm not sure how many of them gave up after the whole Apple Tree Yard """conspiracy""" turned out to be a figment of their collective imaginations.

You can tell a lot of these idiots bitching and whining about TJLC have never been in any real relationship, be it romantic or platonic, mostly due to the fact that they are thoroughly unpleasant and ugly (inside and out).

The set designer took loads of photos and posted them on twitter for the fans thinking he was giving them a sneak peak. He seems to just like elephants personally so included one in most if not all photos.
The foaming TJLC folk took this to mean he was giving them secret messages of "the elephant in the room" that the romance was going to be revealed this year.

When it wasn't true they hounded him on Twitter and demanded he make an apology.

I’m normally a kiwi lurker, but I saw this thread resurface and had to comment with an experience of mine.

Spoiler: tl;dr TJLC ruins lives

I knew one of these people. She was an online friend of mine who I had met a couple of years prior to this experience. I’m a fan of Sherlock Holmes in general, so I didn’t judge her for shipping Johnlock. You ran across that pairing a lot even before the BBC series was even a thing. She wasn’t ridiculous about it anyway; not until the last season was airing and shit got weird. She fell down the TJLC rabbit hole and after the final episode, she fell off the map almost entirely. We live in different countries so we only talked a few times a week, but she eventually stopped communicating with me entirely. At the time, she was still in uni and she was moving house so I thought she was just busy. She was still reblogging things on tumblr, so she was obviously alive. Her other social media sites were dead though, and she hadn’t actually posted anything of her own on tumblr in a very long time.

I was bored one afternoon, did a little digging, and found an active twitter of hers. On that twitter, her TLJC meta had turned into her being completely neck deep in conspiracies. There’s no real pattern to it, so I can’t give you a good rundown of her beliefs because they’re so hard to follow. I know part of it is that she claims Mark Gatiss recognized her because of her contributions to TJLC and that now she’s being attacked by celebrities who are jealous she was “chosen” over them. She says the TLJC people are raping her and that aliens are also involved somehow and that’s caused a standstill behind the scenes in the release of the secret episode. She says she’s being stalked by the BBC on all her social media accounts. She’s claimed the governments of multiple countries are keeping tabs on her because she’s psychic. She’s said the BBC stole her artwork, and that a BBC exec has been experimenting on her using “social media control rooms”. There’s so much, and that’s just the tip of the iceberg.

A lot of her tweets are nonsense and she never actually tweets at anyone. It’s just her talking to herself or retweeting stuff that “solidifies” her conspiracies, so I’m absolutely certain I’m not the only friend she's stopped talking to. I tried reaching out to her privately a couple of times through various channels over the last two years, but she never responds. She has begun to pop up from time to time on tumblr to spout off her nonsense now. Recently, a bunch of her old friends anonymously told her to shut up and take her meds because she sounded wacko. She claims her doctor says she’s perfectly lucid and fine, but that’s obviously not the case.

It’s really sad to see. Before this, she was a really smart, funny, and well spoken person who just happened to ship Johnlock. I know it’s mental illness at work, but I really can’t help but think that TJLC helped to drive her to that point.

It’s interesting seeing stupid fandom shit be a schizophrenic point of obsession instead of the “usual” subjects, but that’s still pretty unsettling and had to be hard to see. Vaguely reminds me of a minor cow I can’t remember the name of who went nuts after some Second Life experiment.
