Toy Story 4 General - or How I Learned To Stop Worrying and Love the Cash Grabs.

Don't know if anyone mentioned this, but noticed how basically Disney has overtaken the box office this year.

They started the year with Captain Marvel, then Dumbo, then Aladdin, then Endgame, then Spiderman, then...this, then the Lion King, then Maleficent, then Frozen 2 and Star Wars 9 for the end. It's like they want to overtake the box office all year, no exceptions.
Pretty sure any film studio that could totally would release a years worth of films if they conceivably thought they could make decent money off every single one. I'm not saying it's good but until people actually stop putting butts in seats, its hard to imagine why Disney wouldn't pack the box office.

Isn't Sony releasing Spiderman? I know Marvel's producing it, but it's not like Disney's really going to make any money off it.

>tfw you watch the Toy Story 4 trailer and all you can remember is the incinerator scene Toy Story 3:'(
I remember hearing some story about a guy whose mother had not seen Toy Story 3. So what he did is he made his own edit where the movie fades to black as they descend into the incinerator and ends abruptly and showed it to her.

Don Rickles is dead, but Mr. PotatoHead is in the trailer? Somebody else gonna voice him? Gonna pastiche it?

IMDb doesn't show a cast member in the role, either. :\
Jim Varney has been deader than a door nail for almost 20 years and they have had Blake Clark doing his Slinky Dog character.

There's no reason to continue this story.
Oh I think the Disney stock portfolio would beg to differ. Can never have enough of a cash grab. We went to Disneyworld last year for my mom's 60th B-day and I gotta say, the park is geared more heavily towards adults now than kids from the look of it. Disney isn't dumb about these things. They know to pump out sequels to films we all saw a decade or two ago to keep our wallets flowing that sweet sweet cash.

I'm not even joking when I say I saw a much higher adult to kid ratio for the place.

That is the funniest god damn thing I've read all week. Holy shit I'm crying and my sides are in orbit. Tell me there is a reaction video of her seeing this. God damn.

It seems like they're trying to court the social media "influencer" crowd to a huge degree. I haven't been there to see this myself but they've added various wall murals around the parks that serve no other purpose but to be backdrops for Instagram posts.

That and It makes sense once you think of it...Disney was popular again during the 90s, their most popular films came out around the time 90s kids mania was in full swing, kids were growing up or being born, and now these kids have grown into adults with their own income who still have a soft spot for their entertainment in their childhoods. It's easy to appeal to them.

The movie doesn't look horrible, but I, like many others am watching the trailer and asking myself "who asked for this?" 3 was a conclusive end to Andy's saga that felt complete, why add more?
I'd still rather watch a 90 minute animated version of this gay porn fanfic than the actual movie

Oh they totally are. The parades now are obviously slowed down so you can take selfies in front of them as they pass you by. Disney may be a lot of things to people but they aren't stupid at all. They know what sells and with their Jewish overlords at the helm, they know how to wring every dollar out of you goys.

Yup. My sister was big into the Little Mermaid. Her daughter watches it religiously. When we were at Disneyworld, she could name all the characters from it, Frozen, Mulan, Toy Story, Moana, Finding Nemo/Dory, etc. because Disney is well aware of how cyclic this shit is. People who are kids now will be having kids 20 years from now and we'll be seeing sequels to all the movies like Frozen, Moana, the third Incredibles movie being announced after a 2 decade hiatus and all the voice actors have died, and probably some straight to download (physical media being dead and all) movies like "Little Mermaid 7: Melody hits puberty".

Nostalgia is a big time seller these days. It's the only reason shitty movies like the new Star Wars films turn a profit (except Solo....more like SoLOW LOLOLOLOL) is because we all grew up watching Star Wars and after the prequels, which now aren't as bad as the new ones in comparison, we were hungry for more like the little pop culture piggies we are all.

I've seen people comment about how there's no real off season during the school year anymore and I think this would be why. Families with kids aren't likely to be the main demographic in the park during the off season, so why not do a lot of shit to attract adults which will be their main source of business for most of the year.

It really makes sense. People have more disposable income now that they're either waiting or never having kids so they have money freed up to do as they please. Why not go to Disneyworld like you did as a kid or even sadder (and more exploitable however you wanna look at it) you never went as a kid?

This is the exact same story set up as the last two movies. (And also the first movie to an extent)

Woody and friends get separated from Andy/Bonnie and must either make their way back home or stay in this promising new life they've been offered by the antagonist.

Do people not see that Disney/Pixar are creatively bankrupt at this point?

You know back in the day comic books would recycle plotlines roughly every 10 years. Why you ask? Most people read them as kids, grew out of it, and instead of having to waste a ton of time with new ideas, publishers realized they just redraw the same plot, update the dialogue a little, and boom! Whole new generation of folks buying and reading them. Rinse and repeat. Now this wasn't the major plotlines but Superman comics were notorious for this. Mostly the b-line stuff like "Jimmy Olson: Superman's Pal" and "Lois Lane: Superman's Girlfriend" which tended to have a less hardcore group of fans.

Somehow Disney has tweaked Toy Story enough to be about being lost just enough to tard cum people every 10 years or so (averaging it a little bit here) to get fresh young asses in those movie theater seats.

Looks like Woody is also going to be trying to convince the spork that he's a toy, which is a complete rehash of Buzz in the first movie.

It's a but meta since spork is kinda right, he's not a toy. Also what kid with that many toys would make a shitty spork toy? that's something a kid with no toys would do.
