Toyhou.se looks like a very clean, functional site and AFAIK there is no staff drama (which is odd) but this entire community really taints the whole thing. I guess serious creators who don’t get involved in the donut steel shit just keep everything on their personal computers.
That, or they keep everything locked away for only authorized users. I've come across plenty of accounts stating you have to ask them to be authorized so you may then view their characters. Personally I'm not sure what the point is (maybe to discourage character and art theft? I'm not convinced since it's not like you can't steal from a private Instagram account that had to accept your follow), and it's not like you can become big on toyhou.se because of your lovable personality lol
there's no staff drama because the staff vanished. there's only one person left working all alone on the site.
People authorise their characters because theyre shy or afraid of people looking at them, but alot of users do authorise only if theyre caught doing something prohlematic, so its either one or the other
idk about getting big, but i have seen people earn a pretty penny with “adoptables” with thousands of subscribers, like umbral-wind for example
