I know you all would love a bit of a ball play.
For real tho - these things are just better.
  • No RSI - no wrist pain
  • Uses less space
  • Pleasant to use
  • Comfy
  • Great accuracy
  • You get to touch more balls

In my experience, trackballs are hell comfy for something like the farms, WoW or Dota, but they're really difficult to use on low sensitivity games comfortably like Siege or CSGO. They use less space, but i don't think that really matters anymore when anyone who wants a 25'' by 12'' mouse mat can easily get it.

I saw one in an office last Friday and remembered that they were a thing for the first time in ten years and that I should get one. Never had a problem gaming with one back in the Tribes days.

When I used a trackball, I preferred having it on the top rather than the thumb. Guess I'm just weird.
The thumb ones seem like the perfect thing to use if you want an RSI.

I have one of those fat older Logitech ones, wired USB type. Free to a good home from a job a few years back.
I liked it for WoW but for regular work I need a scroll wheel and prefer a mouse.

There's an early pic of Kim Jong Un checking out a launch terminal that uses one.

Ever since I was able to get my own computer and added three monitors, I've loved the track ball. I don't have to move my arm like I'm trying to draw the st.louis arch to get from one corner to the other. Just gotta give the ball a flick.

Though some of the prices on ones for Index fingers are crazy. I forgot the model, but that Logitech one can run up to 200. The index finger one I have came from Japan and was 60.

Look into Elecom options, they recently released one of the best thumbballs. But you should try a finger ball too, chances are you'll like it more.
I've been trying to replace a dying Func MS3r2 mouse for years. They stopped making them several years ago, but no one else makes a mouse large enough for my 8 foot tall ass, so I plod on with a dysfunctional mouse. I had forgotten about trackballs - seems like a perfect option!

The Elecom M-HT1DRBK seems like its the same width as my Func mouse. Nice! I thought I was forever boned.

I've never understood trackballs. I visited my dad some years after university, and he had one. It was just weird. Their heyday seems to have been the mid 90's. They always felt awkward and cumbersome.

A bog standard mouse is fine for me. I like the copy/paste function of highlight/middle click.

I've always preferred a good trackball. Stays in place, no iffy movement with older mousepads, just overall hella comfy. Also I'm not slamming the mouse into my keyboard accidentally when I need to move my cursor quickly.

Used to have one of the older Elecom ones. Dunno what happened to it though.

but yeah I'm mostly a cheap shit chinese gaming mouse sort of guy these days
I wonder how / if cheap shit chinese trackballs go

Shit chinese ones are not very usable, they are just awfully sticky, but look at Perixx ones to compare. Also the trackball on this photo is Logitech TrackMan Marble

This is one of the cheapest (if not the cheapest) trackballs, and it's pretty decent. You can find them for like 5$. Another cheap option is Kensington orbit.

I like the copy/paste function of highlight/middle click.

Most trackballs have middle click, on Linux you can set emulation via libinput to middle click on two buttons at once, something that's pretty easy to do with a trackball. Also scrolling with a ball itself when a button is pressed is godly.

Yeah, I have one those, still do. I just don't use it because I bought a logictech m100. (Which sucks ass, btw. But what do I get for buying an 11 dollar mouse at office Depot) used it for a while.

I'm building a gaming PC
Any good ball mouse for gaming

Also yes this post is probably autistic but whatever
