Except they did though. This is a myth. In the le olden days, underage girls were often betrothed to adults, not married. This meant they still lived with their parents and they didn't actually marry and move in with their husbands until they were full adults. This canard mainly stems from US law which didn't account for the difference between parents mainly controlling for their children's marriages, and people having self-determined marriages. What you're citing as an excuse was basically a massive legal mistake that occurred in the transition between authoritarian societies, and liberal societies.

In the Bible Belt, it's still common for young men to get themselves established financially and then go find a teen to marry. That's why the crusade against Roy Moore didn't go anywhere. It was no big deal to most people down there. Go study the AOC laws worldwide. They're not at all standardized. Most of the world sees no problem with younger women and older men as long as the man is no more than twice as old as the young woman and she's at least 14. You'll see 14 as the demarcation line between misdemeanor and felony statutory rape in American law in many states.

Even in psychology, which was completely pinkwashed by gender identity, the consensus is that there is no stable gender identity before 13 years old. 80 - 95% of all children who claim to be "trans" or another sex will grow out of it.
