I like how she backpedaled from doing it in “standard comic format”, since it’s not how she does things or whatever. I’m willing to bet it was more to try and cover her tracks since her comics are very identifiable with how weird and difficult to follow her layouts are, and less to do with “others imposing their interests on her” from the poll results asking people if they wanted a comic or rendered paintings.

If you don't care about comics enough to know you can do other things than "wasted white space with closeups" in vertical comics, and don't even want to do comics, don't ask people if they want to see you do comics? Maybe she just assumed everyone would be clamoring after the same illustrations with bland backgrounds that she's already done a bunch, rather than seeing something new.

She's only standing up for Israel because she loves to be contrarian in order to elicit a reaction.

But I'ma try to give a quick history lesson because this dumb cunt is fucking dumb;

Pelesheth (that is Hebrew for Palestine, Sevva) has existed alongside Israel for thousands of years. In some text they're even used interchangeably with Hebrews. Since the Bronze Age; these people have always lived on these lands, they're not newcomers, they are the existing native populations.

What also has to be considered is that this specific region in the Middle East has been fought over, trampled on, and divided up between kingdoms for thousands of years; the maps of Israel, Palestine, Canaan, Levant, have been redrawn so many times with each new occupation that they had to rely on the UN to section a chunk of land belonging to Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, and Iraq. Israel as a country hadn't existed for a very, very long time and was created out of a desire to push the Jews into their own place under the guise of Zionism (which is its own kettle of tea).

Yes this land is Holy and the homeland for the Jewish people, but that doesn't make evicting and slaughtering the native populations the right thing to do; it's religious zealotry to the highest degree and arguing that Israel's persecution of Palestine is their religious right is like saying the Christian Church was justified during the Crusades because y'know, Israel is also the source of Christianity.

So pray tell me, Sevva, where are the Palestinians who are just as ancient as the Israelites and have spent generations living in the Middle East, supposed to go?

Just some food for thought from one of many Jews who disagree with the actions of Israel.

Additionally, just from eyeballing alone you can tell this isn't a trace. It's a heavy reference. The anatomy and positioning of several pieces of the art are different from the photo. They wouldn't line up if overlayed.

The photo has been used as a part of the image, you can still see some remnants of it in the front of the dress/armpit, but moved around and painted over, because again, it's literally just used to quickly visualise a concept (or most likely one concept out of thirty that some artist churned out that week) to someone in the pipeline to sell the idea and the photograph won't be used as a literal base for the final model, unlike in her illustrations.
So yes, it's literally concept art, it has nothing to do it being "unique". Drawing a concept art of a dinosaur or a car/soldier/NY building for a game/movie/whatever isn't "unique", it's still concept art.

If she worked in a studio, she'd know that people do this all the fucking time, as basic as it can be, even. One thing about this kind of concept art as well, and it's kinda shitty for any low level artist or photographer, is that folks like Weta will just grab photos to paint over (look at Aaron Beck's work for a great example) to create the concept work, and all of that is under licence by the contractor/producer, who get to pick and choose what gets released in art books and they have the legal team to fight back or settle with any artist/photographer who has been slighted.

Art books are something, at least from what I know and have experienced, that are released by the client/producer, so people don't have a choice in what is and isn't published. You get varying stages of production and some of that will show the original stock and the tweaks made.

Smaller, private communities frown upon tracing? Yeah gosh it's almost like there's a difference taking someone elses work to make your final work claiming publicly it as your own and piece of private (pre-)production art that's not made for public.
I don't even get her point in arguing about this, because at the same time she's both "See? Pros trace! It's ok!" and "Wow it's sad pros trace to make this unoriginal concept", but she's definitely just mad that she gets called out for openly stealing shit.

So SoftDilo's mystery job is Nonspecified Art Director. The title is vague in that it can apply to literally anything within the visual design field, from pamphlets to game design to film, while still sounding professional enough to fool people outside of the industry into thinking that it implies some level of authority.

While many art directors are usually in charge of a team or group of other artists to denote their standing as lead of marketing wtihin a certain project, the truth is that anybody who works in graphic design can call themselves an Art Director, even if they are heading a single-person project, as they are the lead (read: only) visual designer for said project.

The idea of any legitimate, industry-connected art director not knowing what the fuck photobashing is though (or what it's even called) and how it works for concept development is a fucking joke though. Taking a single travel photo off a stock site and slapping some paint filters on top, then drawing your dinosona in front of it isn't photobashing, and neither is drawing most of a piece but including some photos of seagulls stolen off Google in the background just because you can't be arsed to put in a little more effort, especially for a commission where the buyer expects the entire piece to be hand-drawn.

There is a term for it, but it's not "Art Director"; last I checked people referred to that as "being a hack".

Considering her previous comments about her editing and combining photos constantly in her job, she makes it sound like she at best does some gruntwork at editing catalogue photos or other type of stock photo/asset editing for whatever purposes. "Photomashing" might as well be what they happen to call it in that place as internal lingo, assuming this job is actually real.

unfortunately I cannot find the set of characters under Adiago as Trish has a history of trying to create new accounts every so often, even in her early days. Do you remember which account of hers that you bought the character from?
