Tumblr themes designed to assault the eyes -

This theme is hideous. I had to Control + this bitch just to be able to read it properly. I used Control + and it's still this small and if I made it any bigger it would have fucked up the screencap.

The reason why a lot of these tumblr themes are so small is because they were designed with a single screen resolution ( usually 1360 x 768 ) in mind, since to tumblr theme makers and people who customize themes for use on their blog it only matters that it displays nicely on their screen.

Tumblr RP is a goddamn gold mine when it comes to bad themes. Here's some that I found myself.
Also, I wonder if the people over at tumblr will reeee at us once when they find out we're making fun of their shitty themes.
I absolutely HATE tiny containers and people who make their posts all gray like that on purpose. The thing is, these look more like graphic pages than blogs. Your eye is too distracted by what's going on in the background to really take notice of the blog's contents. Granted, an RP blog's appeal is kind of 50% the visual aesthetic and 50% content, but there needs to be a way to balance it out.
If you look at the sidebar text formatting in this one, you'll notice that your eyes become just as distracted by the formatting trickery and you forget what exactly you're reading.

I couldn't find a description box or anything, but the screw / spring images are links to popup windows. They also float and rotate, but are hard to realize that they're not part of the background unless you stare in place at them for a few moments.
This one is just gold and white with grey text on an off white background, so it's impossible to see their links on the right side. They're the three little text sparkles in the upper right corner.
Tbh, this one would be alright, if not for the tiny container that fades over text into a rounded bottom image. Also the images in the left column are their links. I still like the background though.

"Teencore", "Emocore", and "Scenecore" blogs are always good candidates for really, really shitty themes.
Their posts aren't even on the front page. This isn't goddamn Geocities.
The IMVU avatars and mix of pastels and neon really make this one. Lime green and baby pink is definitely a good color scheme, right?
There is no way this theme looks good on a computer with a better resolution than mine. Also, that neon yellow background is going to fry my eyes.

Speaking of Tumblr cringe pages, one of my mutuals is some hardcore Markiplier fan. I thought she was a RP thing, but she's whatever Markiplier's Jim family is and even has some character name to it.

For all that Tumblr RPers say that graphic/web design is their passion, they sure are horrible at color schemes, accessibility, or creating content anyone wants to look at. If I were a graphic design professor, I'd flunk these kids on the spot. Sure, good design should have a balance between information and aesthetics, but these people have somehow managed to achieve neither.
I can't stand when any part of the text box gets obscured by a piece of art. It's just a little piece of his hair but I've seen much worse.

It's like she made her profile off of a checklist. She likes cats, feminism and Columbine. Oh and she's also a little. Plus she's retro because the 50s are sooooo cool teehee. Meanwhile reading this thing is giving me stage 4 eye cancer.
