Tumblr themes you *actually* like -

I've made a thread on bad Tumblr themes that make you curse God for giving us the supposedly invaluable gift of eyesight, but for every 1000 bad Tumblr themes, there have to be good ones that can serve as bandaids for the corneas, meep.

Of course this is a subjective thread. I guess it would also be helpful to know your screen specs to avoid the whole "Well it looks all warped and shit on *my* screen*". My screen is 1920 x 1080.

Naturally, I'll go first. Please forgive me, because I don't quite know how to work Internet Archives or take gif shots on my own screen.

This theme can let you feed fish in your sidebar. 10/10. Pretty decent "container" theme.

You just go to somewhere like archive.md or use a program like Puush or Gyazo. I have absolutely no idea what any of the rest of this article is about, though.

I’m a big fan of Redux edits. Basic, I know. But they’re pretty damn good for easy navigation. Plus a lot of them are space themed, which is always cool.

Only the default one is good, all of the other ones are all hipster and I can't find what does what. Also, people make the text OMGGG SO RANDUMM NEON PINK so if your brightness is high, you eyes are raped with Autism.

It's a literal fact that the tumblr theme Remix is the best.
I've always liked the theme that old ruined childhood blog used. No clue what it is, but it looks nice.

TBH I liked the Library theme since I've NEVER seen a design like this before.

for some reason that theme IS p popular among lolcows

another really good clean and minimalistic theme that a lot messed up people like to use is the simple white one with an icon on the side and usually some kinda quote or song lyric, where one word is a link to their 'about' page
idk why but weird kids that may or may not be sociopaths really like em, usually paired w an anime girl icon and/or a pastel pink, possibly edgy and medical aesthetic

This looks like some type of Redux edit (or possibly something made with a simple base code?) based on the layout. I tried checking the source code of an old archive but there was no credit of any kind in it.

I wish I had more of the know-how that I'd need to make the kind of theme I really want. I wanted all the posts to be scrolled through a big oldschool TV screen, and you'd click the TV dials to go to the next or previous pages. Maybe have the posts separated by a .png of VHS tracking lines.

Some of the regular theme makers on Tumblr will design a blog theme like that if you ask them to. When they take requests.

To be honest, if you want a good theme and use tumblr for more serious purposes (a portfolio, for example), then premium themes can be a nice option. You can fetch some off of creativemarket for about five bucks.
