Hi, I'm new to this. Kpop companies are constantly hiring foreigners into their boy/girl groups, and sometimes said people don't even speak Korean very well. They scout people out of the country so I don't actually see the problem of self made Korean pop artist. There are constant controversies about how companies are abusing their idol, but now fangirls are using that excuse to gatekeep kpop. lol. I'm sure kpop idols didn't starve themselves so whities COULDNT be idols but rather because they cared about their image more than themselves.

Rania is a kpop girl group made by an American dude that includes a black woman.
If the genre is pop and the language being sung is in Korean I think it's ok to call it kpop.

It's like saying the Beatles suck compared to the Monkees because they wrote their own music instead of having it forced on them by corporate. (Though the Monkees later did write their own material.)

Personally, I find the entire Jayden situation quite funny because he's had a couple of tweets about it in the past. I don't get what people are getting so worked up about? Why can't we just laugh about this kind of stuff and move on? People are so pissy these days.

Although, saying that, I can't remember a time when the kpop fandom wasn't pissy. They are always whining about something...

The entire music industry is cultural appropriation. Genres borrow from genres regardless of race and nationality. That's just how artistic influence works. If we're saying white people can't do K-pop, well, maybe Koreans shouldn't be appropriating a genre developed in America and Europe and ultimately derived from African-American culture. If Tumblr is upset, then they can assuage their guilt by sticking to white-only music. Enjoy the fucking madrigals.
