Usually I go on "All the tropes" for my tropes fix, they advertise themselves as being censorship-free version of TVT. Don't know much about their community though.
I utterly adore TVTropes; I usually have 3-4 TVTropes tabs open at a time. It's actually an extremely entertaining website. However, I've never even stepped foot in the forums. I'd heard horror stories about it even before I became an avid TVTropes reader and that deterred me enough to not bother with the community. Sounds like I made the right choice.
Spiritual Licensee/Whole Plot Reference: As noted in the WMG and Shout Outs sections, 4, at times, plays out like an adaptation of Puella Magi Madoka Magica. Cortana and Chief's relationship in particular shares a lot of similarities between the relationship of Madoka and Homura.
