I may be out of the loop on this, but doesn't Chris still believe he's married to Mewtwo and Magi Chan?
I remember in Geno Samuel's Q&A video he said something about how that Chris sometimes "forgets" that he's supposed to be Sonichu which he sees as evidence that Chris doesn't actually believe this... Maybe this is something similar? Not sure.

Chris says a lot of things that he may claim to believe at a time, but he quickly becomes bored, and switches to some other narrative that serves his interests that minute. All Chris believes is whatever gets him his own way at any given time.

Nothing is ever Chris's fault.

I don't think Chris is "getting better".

I don't think he actually believes in his "lovers" or the Merge at this point.

One can only believe in a toon world "merge" for so long when said "Dimensional Merge" keeps failing to happen.

I think Chris is loony on the surface, but it seems that deep down, he still knows the crazy is really bullshit. Like he didn't finish the "Love Quest", he quit.
