Two bands who have called for members of the Conservative Party to be killed are to perform at Glastonbury Festival 2019.

One of Killdren's best known songs is called Kill Tory Scum while Fat White Family have called for violence against Conservatives on social media.

The Jo Cox Foundation said the language was "completely abhorrent".

"We're seeing a legitimising and normalising of harmful words and actions," it said.

Killdren, who are a "two-bit rave punk band" and claim to form the "ideal soundtrack to the worst generation in history", will play at Glastonbury's Shangri-Hell International TV stage on Friday 28 June.

Their lyrics include: "Even if it's your dad or your mum, kill Tory scum, kill Tory scum...murder them all to the beat of a drum, kill Tory scum, kill Tory scum."

The band also played a graphic set at Boomtown Fair 2018, in which they kicked, punched, and spat at a man dressed in a suit, while wearing Kill Tory Scum clothing.

The Glastonbury story was first reported by the Sunday Times. When asked about the song, the band told the paper: "The piece would not exist if the destructive and violent policies of the Tory party hadn't taken such a devastating toll on the UK."

The band's YouTube page claims the song is "satirical discourse".

Also due to perform at the festival is Fat White Family, who previously played at Glastonbury's Park stage in 2015.

Its song topics include abusive relationships, serial killers and addiction to class A drugs.

In a 2015 tweet, the punk rock band, from south-east London, said anyone who voted Tory had "blood" on their hands, and called for them to be executed.

A year earlier, they said Tories should be hanged.

Catherine Anderson, chief executive of the Jo Cox Foundation, said the language was "completely abhorrent".

Jo Cox MP was killed by a right-wing extremist in 2016, days before the Brexit referendum.

Ms Anderson told the BBC: "The direct incitement of violence and abuse, on any platform and in any sector, is wrong and something that we absolutely reject.

"We're seeing a legitimising and normalising of harmful words and actions, and this is leading to a decay in our shared language and ultimately our values, and that concerns us very much.

"We cannot but think of what happened to Jo, after whose murder we believed things would improve; instead, things have got a lot worse."

In a statement, YouTube said it had put an age restriction on the videos - which is the company's policy when videos do not violate its guidelines, but may not be appropriate for all viewers.

It added: "While YouTube is a platform for free and creative expression, we strictly prohibit videos that are abusive or that promote violence.

"All videos uploaded to YouTube must comply with our community guidelines, and we enforce these policies carefully."

The BBC has contacted Glastonbury for its response.

They even fucking justified it with the usual 'Tories are cunts' argument!

Bet they'd hate it if someone sung about murdering Jeremy Corbyn.

I feel like some people in Britain seem to suffer from fetal alcohol syndrome like this punk band about as poignant as Limp Bizkit.

They've got better things to worry about at the mo than some nobodies and a band with 3 good songs (seriously, pirate Feet, Breaking Into Aldi and Whitest Boy On The Beach by Fat White Family, they'll be for it seeing as the Tories are the Party for capitalist pigs and buying shit is supporting the system ;) )

After all, Trump's coming over to play tomorrow, then we have a massive slapfight due to start on Friday.

The band barely have 100 subscribers to their YouTube channel even with all the publicity they're getting (It was 73 yesterday and now it's up to 106):

Maybe Christine and the Tomgirls can write an anti-DRUMF song and appear at Glastonbury next year.

Christ, that was painful to sit through. When old punk bands like the Dead Kennedys and Rage against the Machine wrote songs with cringeworthy 2edgy4me lyrics, at least the music itself was decent. This is just... childish crap.

I love how this song is only two years old and already feels massively dated. In the near future so much of our current pop culture (late 2010s to early 2020s) is going to age like sour milk because of the endless whining about MUH NAZIS and DRUMPF. It's like when you watch a comedy movie from the mid-2000s and there's inevitably a "hey isn't George W. Bush a dumbass, right guys?" joke that makes you groan.

Haven't punk bands been writing these kind of lyrics for years? Also
"We're seeing a legitimising and normalising of harmful words and actions," it said.
sounds like an SJW kind of quote to me.

Let 'em play, if you don't agree with their politics don't see them, simple as that.

Lol Killdren got told to fuck off.

It’s no real loss, the only reason I imagine you’d watch that band would be to take selfies to impress your woke friends on social media, Fat White Family at least seems to be a proper band.

Glastonbury is a very middle class, middle aged festival, they prefer things nonthreatening and nonconforming but not too nonconforming, like maybe buying and wearing an overpriced wacky hat or something.

They kind of are. As I've said though, three good songs. If someone asked for an in your face young punk band I'd be more tempted to suggest Cabbage.
Festivals are really all about the greatest hits for crowds to drunkenly sing along to anyway.

Thanks for the recommendation though, I listened to a few songs and think they are pretty good but I’m not really a big punk fan, the only punk band I really listen to these days is US band NOFX.
