This is going to be like the Rodney King incident, where in the end, it won't matter what the facts of the case were. We have a large group of people who have felt screwed over by the airlines for years, and now they have a concrete event to make their point. There's going to be a huge push for airline reform after this, just because people have wanted it for a while but until now there hasn't been a moment of "This shit is out of control".

Thanks to the Internet, instead of caring about physical abuse of United customers, I'm now completely sick of this fucking story and everyone involved in it and every meme it has generated.

It's a legit story but god damn I just got bombarded with it non-stop on Monday.

I don't think it will cause much of an uproar here in the States. SJWs are more prone to leech to "injustices" amongst blacks, women, and LGBTQ.

The reason? The guy explained in the article. Asians (and Native Americans) for the most part don't want to lose face, so not much homegrown protests are formed. It's also because SJWs view that Asians have more privilege than blacks and women. I have seen Facebook posts on this from "crusaders of social justice" saying that he didn't deserve the sympathy as the Chinese aren't that "oppressed" anyways.

Eh, I wouldn't be so sure on that. I've seen a couple people claim that the guy had it coming to him for refusing to leave the plane - nevermind that he had nothing to do with United overbooking the plane in the first place and the subsequent revelation that the plane wasn't overbooked at all anyway.

I've also seen at least one guy compare the protests against United as "economic terrorism" because United getting bad press and losing money because of what they did is the fault of the people complaining about that malpractice.

I saw an article yesterday about how his medical license was revoked for years and now only has them back for one-day a week probatively because he apparently was very willing to prescribe narcotics to guys in return for sexual favors. (Blow jobs/anal for pills) He's definitely a weirdo but the whole situation is fucked.

At least he wasn't outright lying about being a doctor, even if it's questionable that he had to get back to town for legit job reasons. (His wife is actually a doctor with full hospital privledges, of course he's married to a woman while he gives drugs out for hot gay sex on the side. Ewww.)

While all of this might be true, literally none of it is relevant to the fact that the guy got the shit beaten out of him and physically dragged off of the United flight, unless he was trying to trade pills for gay sex to the TSA agent that dragged him off the plane.

I kind of wish it had been a black guy and then the protestors could riot and basically destroy the airline. For once, I'd support them.

I do think that race MAY have played a part in this, but we can't be sure. It's feasible to me that they may have thought the old Asian doctor guy wouldn't fight back as much... but unless someone confesses (unlikely!) we'll probably never know. The way we lowkey mistreat Asians is fairly abhorrent. The ones I've met are mostly nice people who just mind their own business and don't bother anyone. They're harmless. Why pick on them? Heck, they didn't even bully the booknerds in school. Only kids besides the Jews who didn't. But those two groups get an undeserved bum rap. It isn't fair.
