Japan’s record on women’s rights will be examined by the UN Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW) on 16 February. Japan has ratified the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women and so is reviewed regularly by the Committee on how it is implementing the Convention.

Among the possible issues for discussion between CEDAW and a delegation from the Japanese Government are: Banning the sale of video games or cartoons involving sexual violence against women; employment equality, illegal dismissal of women due to pregnancy and childbirth; sexual harassment in the workplace; reintegration into school textbooks of issue of “comfort women”; compensation for women with disabilities sterilised against their will; effect on women, particularly pregnant women, of health programmes introduced after the Fukushima nuclear disaster; difference in pension benefits for men and women, poverty among older women.

The discussions will take place at thePalais des Nations in Geneva, Switzerland on February 16th. The findings of the discussions will be broadcast on March 7th, next month.

you treat children differently for good reasons and in turn give them some protections (some of them are dumb though), but if you give women the SAME protection as children, you must think they are children.

I saw something recently about how SJWs are protesting sexist speech aimed at Siri and Cortanna, and urging Apple and Microsoft to make those programs actively discourage such "abuse". Supposedly the idea is that allowing men to abuse a female representation reinforces such behavior in real life, but once you open that door, where does it end? Are we going to start limiting the number of hours you can make your computer work because we don't want to reinforce slave-labor practices?

It's like the UN is actively and aggressively trying to make itself more and more irrelevant every week. If they keep on this track they might have the influence of a high school debate club by year's end.
