I'd want to see a live action adaption of Ajin.
Don't know if it would work, don't even know if there's anyone ballsy enough to do the suicide fighting choreography, the shooting sprees, or the 9/11s justice, but it would be a really cool sight to see if it was done right.

I have no idea why yaoi is still demonized but yuri (troon catnip) isn't.

With yuri you can potentially find hot real world couple, while gays are universally disgusting.
Also if you follow western journos who talk about VNs you'd see it's the opposite. They'll praise shitty written yaoi VN irregardless of its sexual content (ie, rape is actually love). But any hetero or yuri VN will be called disgusting and badly written.

That’s not unpopular. I was in the fansub community at the time, and that was pretty much the general consensus. It’s something like only 73 episodes out of 220 that weren’t filler.
I don’t know if RWBY counts as anime, but if it does - I don’t really like RWBY and I find a lot of the writing super trite and cheesy
Also Steins;Gate feels like a shaggy dog story that all could have been avoided, and Robotics;Notes is the superior series.

Shitting on RWBY is hardly an unpopular opinion, you’d be hard-pressed to find anyone who still unironically likes it and doesn’t just use it for woke cred.
I stopped watching anime like 15 years ago. I've tried a couple times since then to watch some of the popular stuff being pumped out.. and I was really put off by how pornified a lot of it is. Was it always this bad?
I tried a couple episodes of Seven Deadly Sins since it popped up on netflix, and the girl character was constantly being groped and pretty much just sexually assaulted as humor. It's fuckin' weird.

That's just a bad choice on your part really. Its very easy to avoid fanservicey shows. Seven Deadly Sins, if anything, is pretty retro in that regard.
Observations about acclaimed shows:
Death Note is great up until L gets killed. It falls apart after that, the author introduces a new younger L rather than coming up with something original.
Steins;Gate (light novel) is phenomenally written, if a bit derivative of Back to the Future and Terminator. The anime adaptation does not live up to the LN. Everything feels emotionless and more sterile.
Could not get into FMA: Brotherhood, did not like it. Don't understand the acclaim. The intro is great though.

Yeah anime in the 80s and 90s was more experimental with the industry playing around with a lot of different genres and styles to see what worked. Modern anime has by and large become sea of trend-followers with the occasional diamond in the rough.
That's not unpopular, it's the general consensus among the fandom.

If somebody could correct me that would be great but before Brotherhood was a thing I think FMA 2003 was the most popular anime on places like MAL and when it aired it supplanted 03 as "best anime ever" since it looked better and was an actual accurate adaption of the manga.
All I know is that once Brotherhood came out the 2003 anime got shat on left and right.
