I try so hard and got so far
Miyazaki is a champagne socialist, a lot of his bullshit is political in nature, the old fart carries a lot of petty grudges from a life of being a smug communist, watching the iron curtain crumble and new generation of japanese creators wipe its ass with the ideology.
That said, i don't really enjoy anything Tezuka ever made, i only respect him for his pioneering but i actually really dislike his style.
I do not get why so many anime fans in the USA prefer whiny shonen protagonists over a badass like Golgo 13.

Well i guess it's time to Write my own unpopular opinions / warning gets long/ :
- even Though I've only watched one season of my melody, she and Kuromi are the superior sanrio characters if my Choice in

- Mermaid Melody is far too underrated for what's a pretty fun mermaid singing show ( Hell, two male classmates liked it more then sailor moon- and i loved sailor moon at first until the romance drama got too much for my barely prepubescent self.)
- while i do like Deku and MHA ( i sorta related to Quirkless Deku's struggles do to my own personal struggles so i cried in the first ep like a bitch-) i think most of the appeal comes from Horikoshi's world, like it or not the shtick of western type super heros Ins't all that explored in Japanese media, Guaranteeing a huge overseas fandom where super hero shit is beloved such as the US cashcow, annd When it kicks butt, it kicks butt. So really it led more often then not that a lot of fan content is more interesting and layered then The actual show itself. On another note, Someone saw that the story would have been more interesting had Deku remained Quirkless, winch was actually the first idea kohei had, but scrap it because he wasn't able to get Deku/ Izuko out of his hurdles as he raised the anthy in terms of enemies. It sounds a bit weird/ bullshitty tho and changes could have been made in order for Izuko to remain Quirkless and tony stark/ Bruce wayne his way outta of shit ; i don't see Iron man and batman being made into less threats just cause there not super lol. Buut i do like the idea someone mention here of Izuko being demoted to a lower class and having to grind his way to the top, mostly because his rivarly with Bakugo could be explored even more if he's on a opposing or the top class instead. Annd that ends the MHA sperg, mostly.
- Gotoge The creator of Demon slayer Has more Balls then Kohei given how They ended their own manga and i somewhat am looking foward to the movie and upcoming season(s). With that being said it suffers from having far more interesting side characters and world then most MCs ( But i like tanjiro and Nezuko...Cause i just like sibling bonds ok, especially if wholesome ;^
- i like Hetalia in theory, but a better grasp in history would have made the screwball comedy even better ( i did meet a somewhat friend On the fandom who's trying to reboot Hetalia but more seriously taken lol. I've become skeptical of the project as Balancing fiction and historical fact is hard as it is and she wants a a level of austitic accuracy to it lol) But the Dub is bae.
- speaking of Subs vs dubs, It's a stupid debate for anyone who Ins't from the anglosphere and is used to subs and dubs coexisting annd even being employed in Live action TV. So yeah Amerifags are literally the few that make a deal out of subs lolol.
- Hayao Miyazaki is the Disney of Japan, in that his stuff while not as revolutionary as his peers, it's very marketable all things considered. I deal with Miyazaki movies well since i came in largely for entertainment and aesthetics, and as long as i was amused, i didn't care too much about the flimsy stories. Though Cat in the hat might make the ranks as one of my favored ones, along with Princess Mononoke ( One of Miyazaki's more competent movies IMO though Nausicaa might change my mind).
- i love tale of princess kaguya but i agree that the pacing really bogged down the experience. But it's a great movie otherwise.
- Toradora is really overrated as far as tsundere led anime goes. Then again i dislike the tsundere trope for the cuntery not even being fun to watch.
- Black butler Is also a bit overrated and mostly boring. Grell is a really confusing take on "a trans woman", in a world of traps and Bishies who pass as more girly then they are. My Trans friend seemigly got it right away that they were trans but i suspect if he's not lying, he already knew it before watching or took Grell calling themselves a she to face value ( and might or might not know that it was common for homos to call themselves She. And " She" came off as a stereotypical Flamboyant queer) and now there's some soap opera twin swapping nonsense lol
- Madoka is ok. I like people taking it apart way more then The actual thing. Food for thought and it sounds cool and shit.
- i could not take jojo in my first try seriously and i kept laughing and thinking it's cringe. I might pick it up later again, now that my expectations have been recalibrated as I've bought in the hype.
- i have a huge Crush on Spike from Bepop and his dubbed voice but wasn't able to finish the show, mostly as it didn't grab me.
- I did really like Doraemon and Minky momo in my youth and i might try looking for more vintage anime that's fun and light hearted or just fun and engaging but not dipped in grease and sugar Moeblob nonsense.
- Yuri on ice is just a smidge bellow average. The fact the romance is miracously not a huge mess already makes it golden for some. Yup standards are thaaat lowered ( Yes Aimed at woman and yada yada but there's probably ( cis) dudes who beated it to bara or yaoi depending on there taste of dudes.)
- I'm shocked people over the age of 16 gave Tokyo Ghoul even the lightest chance?? Just the fandom alone and description in the t.v trope page gives away how Edgy and mindless it is lol. Even AOT ( Winch i have no interest in seeing ) at least had weird flesh giants going for it. Tf does Tokyo Ghoul have ?? Pretty boys??
- I actually really like Mello from death note. Might not be super unpopular but L always takes the cumtard cake and Near the heat so no love for Mello. But i do think that it's one of those anime i can see older people liking it ( though not rewatching it any time soon because i suck at binging and I've yet to see half the shit i wanted to including the new season of MHA)
- Re: Cutie honey is a underrated OVA and way better then promare ( Same director and use a similar kissing Device near The end of buut unlike Promare it's made more clear that the main girls become a couple to me unlike Promare).

Grell is not trans. He's a flaming homo. Anime uses that trope all the time. BTW, at least the Funi translation did the settings justice when they translated 'okama' into 'poof' in one of the OVAs.

Yeah, Grell's just a flaming homo who's psychotic on top of that. In that time period, Grell couldn't be trans despite using feminine pronouns to hide his true gender though Grim Reapers are people who killed themselves, so if Grell IS actually trans, that's some really unfortunate implications lol, the fanbase froths at the mouth when you say so otherwise. He's the best character in the series anyway for his striking design and just being batshit insane, but is not someone to idolize or put on a pedestal. If anyone says they "knew" they were trans because of Grell, there's much more issues going on below the surface than gender dysphoria (if that).
Tbh Yes i loved Grell precisely for the Reasons you mentioned and it's danm unfortunate he was stuck in such a blah anime.
Actually I'd take a anime or manga all about reaper shenanigans- idk i guess i like that type of stuff more?
Also my friend didn't find out they were trans through Grell. Just just hopped on the now i think about it kinda of silly " Grell is trans" train withouth doing a double take like me
I really wish Darling In The FranXX would get a continuation, or maybe even a do-over, as despite all the issues it has, I still have quite a soft spot for it.
Castle of Cagliostro is probably his best movie in my personal opinion, but I'm not sure if that counts as his best film from when he was a Marxist since it was pre-Ghibli and based on a preexisting property.
Castle in The Sky was pretty good too though. I'm assuming "when he was a Marxist" means the stuff Miyazaki made before the Cold War ended, right?
Other unpopular weeb opinions of mine...
1. Fullmetal Alchemist 2003 is superior to Brotherhood and the manga
2. Naruto and Boruto are both fun and enjoyable despite their flaws. Honestly, the filler and the Narutards of the 2000's are why the show gets such a bad rap. Otherwise, it's a fairly standard but decent shonen fighting anime
3. I unironically enjoy the old 90's dub of Sailor Moon even with the myriad flaws and censorship. The Viz redub and the subbed versions are also very good and are better overall but I still love the old dubs from the 90's complete with the Westernized names and awkward censorship to appease Standards & Practices.
Part of it is probably the childhood nostalgia talking since Sailor Moon was my very first anime followed by Digimon and Cardcaptors, but there's also a campy charm to it as well.
4. By that same token, I also like Cardcaptors unironically. Yes, Cardcaptor Sakura is a lot better and makes a lot more sense than the Nelvana dub but nostalgia aside, I still enjoy Cardcaptors for what it was. It's a lot more enjoyable if you view Cardcaptors as some kind of American spin-off as opposed to a "true" dub of Cardcaptor Sakura.
5. Another anime from my childhood that I love is Flint The Time Detective. I'm not sure if this counts as an unpopular opinion or just a really obscure one. Nobody seems to remember that show but I loved it as a kid. I think it was because I was always a bit of a history sperg and that was the main gimmick of the show
6. I still enjoy Hetalia despite its lunatic fanbase

Tbh i enjoy My country's dub of Dragon ball and Sailor moon for the same campy reasons lolol.
