tbf, most anime watchers aren’t going to be down to read a VN. That’s one step further than manga, a niche in a niche in a niche. I imagine when most people are asking about Fate, they’re asking about what anime they should watch.

For me the main issue with Samurai Champloo was the leading male characters (Context: I only watched the english dub) where one guy is as dry as a brick who does the same thing in his plots of rescuing women while the other guy is just Samurai Spike Spiegel but not as cool

Berserk - I don't know if this is an unpopular opinion or not, but I'm amongst those who think that this manga has declined significantly. It started off decently, reached its pinnacle during the Golden Age arc, and has been in a slow and prolonged decline ever since. I think the issue has to do with writer's block more than anything else. Working with the same thing for a long time can be exhausting, and especially when you have expanded the story to the extent that it requires an equally large finale to satiate expectations. Miura, like GRRM, doesn't seem to have retained the enthusiasm that he once had for his Magnum Opus.

I have to admit though, that I haven't revisited the series for a long time, and this opinion might be prone to change after doing so. Miura might have gotten a second wind recently, and the series might be on a good track to conclude and (hopefully) meet the expectations set by the story.

Berserk lost a lot of it's grit when the more high fantasy elements of its plot started to be introduced. The most recent ten or so chapters where they're all just sitting and chatting in the garden of the elves doesn't even seem like the same manga.

It was primarily a dark fantasy that managed to maintain both low and high fantasy elements in a perfect balance earlier in the story. At some point the "high" overwhelmed the "low", and we lost the dark atmosphere that it had throughout the earlier arcs. What differentiated its atmosphere from other fantasy stories of its kind was its oppressive nature. It felt gnostic, where evil was vast and overwhelming and goodness was fragile and miniscule. It doesn't really feel like this anymore.

Not unpopular but I wish non-reincarnation isekai genre actually focused on the "oh shit, i'm in another world" and balancing worldhopping and whatever fantasy goal to do with having an irl life in real world at times or having once had an irl life if its permanent instead of being a highschool pervert fuckfest. We get it, harpies got D-cups, but they've porned up the entire fucking genre. Fucking Digimon and Pokemon Mystery Dungeon are better Isekai by genre definitoon than most Isekai anime, which is either the most based or most retarded thing I've ever said in my life.

I guess its an unpopular opinion, but a lot of isekai get called out as fanservice insert bait when they're really not. I like that sort of gimmicky shit regardless, though, big fan of "detective with a gimmick" shit too so maybe its just my taste.
It leaves the wrong impression though, when you're expecting RPG Divers level of titties and get an episode where Goblin Slayer learns to make ice cream.
