I couldn't stand Scott Pilgrim, maybe it works better as a comic, I don't know, but as a movie it was annoying. The characters where pretty terrible people, and you can make a good movie with a terrible protagonist, IF you do it RIGHT, good examples of movies I love with main characters who are horrible/messed up people are (Clockwork Orange, Heathers, and Caligula). And that sucks because I REALLY love Edgar Wright, and I actually don't dislike Micheal Cera, I think he's funny in a lot of things.

Here's another one, I liked the Ang Lee Hulk better then the one with Ed Norton. Now don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the Ed Norton Hulk, but it really did feel like set up for the Avengers, while the Ang Lee Hulk was its own movie. I thought Ang Lee really treated the character with respect, and as a monster movie fan, I like the homage to Frankenstein, and Dr Jekyl etc.

I enjoyed Final Fantasy the Spirits Within, now keep in mind, besides playing 7 a lot when I was a kid, I know next to nothing about the Final Fantasy universe and lore, but I enjoyed Spirits Within, I thought it was a neat Scifi film.

I like the new Star Trek films.
The new Star Trek films are basically just Star Wars films with Phasers. There's nothing bad about liking them it's just they aren't Star Trek.

Actually it's one of the better things to happen to the fandom since Star Trek movies have sucked since maybe Star Trek 6. Plus there hasn't been a good tv series since DS9.

I thought Phantom Menace was the best of the 3 prequels, even if it did have problems, although some of my enjoyment of it is the result of nostalgia, it was EVERYWHERE when I was a kid, and I saw it in theaters, when it came out.
Phantom Menace is alright, but I think Revenge Of The Sith just beats it.

Attack Of The Clones is the weakest of the prequel trilogy.

Lars von Trier is the David Cage of film making. He doesn't want to create a movie, he wants to create 'art', but his 'storylines' and execution are so poor it is mind-numbing. Not to mention, pornography, eeeverywhere.

^Lars von Trier is an acquired taste for sure. Some days, I like his movies (I actually thought Antichrist had a pretty scary atmosphere and the second half of Melancholia was quite beautiful) while other days, I hate them and wish he'd just get over himself (e.g. bloody ejaculation in Antichrist and the boring first half of Melancholia). I'm probably going to end up watching The Nymph()maniac (oooh, how artsy!) and see Shia Labeaouf have sex (oooh, how daring!).

The problem is the majority of people who went to see it were expecting Final Fantasy The Movie (probably Final Fantasy VII The Movie in particular). Instead they got a movie based on the concept of Final Fantasy and felt betrayed, or whatever.

The one part I liked about Antichrist that really unhinged me for the rest of the evening was the moment when
the fox said "Chaos Reigns"

It was the one moment when the movie went from something sorta more dramatic to the point where it became a really psychological surreal horror movie. It really unhinged me and I spent the rest of the evening thinking about it.

Final Fantasy's brand of story telling isn't really suited toward movies. Even when Advent Children came out a lot of the fanbase I remember (that didn't consist of fanboys) was split on it due to how loud and pretentious it was. Plus how it basically only focused on Cloud and Tifa, and everyone else was just a cameo appearance.

With the Spirits Within it didn't really feel like a Final Fantasy story when I watched it. It felt like "lets just make a generic CGI sci-fi movie to showcase our technology". I didn't get the pathos or really well told backstory that I usually got from the characters of Final Fantasy games.

Oh yeah I can understand that reason fans would be disappointed/surprised. I'm sure non fans were confused too, judging be the title, one might assume it would be a fantasy movie, with swords and dragons. But instead its a Scifi film, that would probably bore/confuse the average movie goer. I liked it though, maybe they should have given it a different title. Even if you've never played the games, the title is kinda odd for that movie, "Why is it called the Final Fantasy?" "What's that supposed to mean?"
