Unpopular opinions about movies. -

I've been thinking lately that I might prefer Batman Begins more than TDK, and you may have touched on a reason why.

Batman '89's still the best Batman movie.
I've always liked Begins more than the Dark Knight, Bruces path from Antifa Level Larper to The Fucking Batman is probably the best version of the Batman Origin we have seen. The connection to Ras and the League made sense as to why Ras would want Bruce as his heir, and the "Ras can't die" thing being body doubles was great.

As I said before I honestly Dislike Dark Knight and Dark Knight Rises, The Joker..is almost The Joker in name only. "Wanna see a pencil disappear" is not a joke.

Bad Lieutenant has Harvey Kietel’s greatest performance to date. Do not be put off by the NC-17 rating. It actually is an incredible film that takes the topic of moral culpability very seriously.

Queen and Slim would have worked a lot better if Queen were not supposedly a smart lawyer, since her character comes up with some of the worst ideas imaginable for somebody in her situation. Not bad for a young lovers on the run film, but the political angles tried really hard to take away from the parts of the film I actually liked.

Goldeneye was one of the best Bond movies and Brosnan was a very highly underrated Bond.
I like the Brosnan Bond films as well, but Craig’s portrayal of him in Casino Royale is far closer to the books. Bond is a damaged person, impulsive, and almost a sociopath.

Something that got toned down in the rest of the Craig films.

There were also elements trying to modernize, the character for lack of a better term, issuing him a Walther P99 that I guess for fan reasons were reverted back to his PPK.

The airplane scene in Bridesmaids is one of the best comedy scenes in a film. It should definitely be up there in the top comedy films.

That's underrated? I'd say almost everyone loves Goldeneye. It's the other 3 people disliked. Which while I can understand Die Another Day getting the meh reputation, The World is Not Enough and Tomorrow Never Dies are great.

Speaking of underrated Bond, Lazenby and Dalton get a bad rep as I found their movies really good, with On Her Majesty's Secret Service very good, and my personal favorite. Especially with that ending.

Moore got the worst movies but is probably my favorite Bond. Screw what anyone says, Moonraker is a hilarious movie. The Man With The Golden Gun also good. Connery was good, of course. Daniel Craig is just boring. Didn't care for any of his movies, but liked how the plot was more connected to each other.

Which was the one where Pierce Brosnan's Bond pulled the core out of an active reactor without any protection? Because that's the one that I checked out on.

-I don't get why everyone was kissing Reality Bites' ass when it came out. (I was in the teen to gen x crowd it was supposed to appeal to.)
-I think with the right material Will Smith can be a good actor. Pursuit of Happiness was the film that convinced me that he could play something other than himself.

The thing about Batman Begins that the Knight movies dropped that I didn't like was that Gotham in Begins is more of its own city, with creative stuff like the Narrows and that rail train system.

Dark Knight and Dark Knight Rises dropped giving Gotham its own unique style and instead just made it... Chicago.

In an effort to be more "realistic" they lost some of the comic book charm that makes Batman fun to begin with.

Honestly, I've not seen them since the theaters and I do have the feeling the Dark Knight movies have probably not aged great, they were amazing at the time when compared to the absolute shit Hollywood was turning out back then like the Michael Bay Transformers films, so any movie with actual effort put into the scripts seemed amazing.

But now it's "gritty and realistic" approach just seems bland.

Nolan at least made that approach work far better than say Man of Steel though at least

It's weird, because for all the shit that Quantum of Solace gets, that movie is the closest to book 007 as far as characterization gets. Shame its plot is a bloody mess.

I still really enjoy it though. Easily my "guilty pleasure" 007 flick.

Cannibal Holocaust is actually a really smart movie and meta commentary on the concepts of journalism, media hypocrisy, and documentary filmmaking. It's just that its status as grindhouse trash prevents it from ever getting that kind of critical appraisal (that and people really don't like the gratuitous animal murder).
It's one of my favourite movies ever for that reason.

Gran Torino is overrated. Eastwood was great in it, and I liked the parts at the beginning with his family and the priest, but it wouldn't have worked without him. Beneath all the production values it's another liberal anti-racism morality tale where mean old whitey gets "saved" by his multicultural neighbors and sheds those stupid old white man beliefs that were holding us all back. Still more thoughtful than the typical afterschool specials Hollywood pumps out, though.

This movie is bad because of the editing, it's just nauseating.
