Honestly surprised no one else made this kind of thread yet for this subforum. Anyway, just like the other similar threads, what opinions do you have about professional wrestling that usually goes against the grain.

For me, I still like Goldberg's run in the WCW. Yeah, he was a poor character actor, and his winning streak did become ridiculous. But I could look past that simply because, the man was fun to watch. He still is pretty much the only wrestler I've seen that could sell the spear as an effective move. Plus, although he didn't have much of a persona, he was one of the few WCW wrestlers that didn't feel like some cartoon character brought to life, much like the NWO did.

I actually really enjoy (if it is done right) deathmatch wrestling. Like Mick Foley and Terry Funk's matches in Japan, Jon Moxley/Dean Ambrose in CZW and the old Japanese deathmatch wrestling in the 90's. People tend to just watch dumb untrained backyard "wrestlers" have "deathmatches" and assume that is what that style of wrestling is.

I miss squash matches and when PPV's were only 4 or 5 a year. (even though I stopped watching current stuff around 2005) Things felt like a bigger deal when they were doing that. Squash matches also helped wrestlers get over better and made feuds last longer.

imagine how much more dramatic the ppv matches would be if when they were trading finishers, you remembered them killing scrubs each week with just one of them

I always thought Hollywood/Hulk Hogan was slightly overrated. I liked his persona and he seems like a great guy, I just always thought he was blown out of proportion compared to other wrestlers for no reason other than marketing.

My unpopular opinion: Akebono was the best world champion AJPW has had in over five years.
That's not an unpopular opinion. Akebono is regarded as a grand champion for AJPW because he kept the ship sailing during the darkest period.

The new age outlaws sucked, from a match stand point, seen one, seen em all.
Also, Road Dogg & X-Pac was a better tag team.

I'm used to people shitting on the idea of him being champ or people wondering why I'd think that. I was sure it was unpopular.
