EDIT: And as we see with Vtubers, female comedic actors need to get rid of that bitchy, irritated attitude that infects modern comedy. The "women can't be funny" meme only applies to Western comics not because they're women, but that they're unpleasant sluts that talk about their vagina. Meanwhile, Kiryu Coco was the most superchatted person in the world for laughing at reddit memes. Thus, female comics should be more like Lucille Ball, cute, charming, and witty.

Call me a retard but I don't think it was a bad thing at first. The US isnt putting out too many scientists these days
Then again it's become a secular religion or a team now.
Also intelligent or educated people tend to have big egos or complexes putting themselves above others, and are a tad unsufferable to be around if you say the wrong thing.
I dont know man I know the I LOVE SCIENCE MEME and know fuckers like that, at it's root I dont think it's bad.
But it annoys me to no end the people who look down on to others because they arnt well informed or educated when the populace isnt (supposed to be ) taught critical thinking or have an education worth a damn from public schools.

Teach em enough to build this or do what ever, teach em too much and they'll question why they're doing any of this.
But you'll get "le reddit" type people who will stick their noses up at you.
I could go on but I've been drinking and don really care anymore.

We are not in the Golden Age of Television.

We are in an age of serialized Dramas, just like before this we were in an age of Reality Tv..and before that was Sitcoms.

God, I fucking hate serialized dramas so much. Everyone talks about how well they are written, and they huff their own farts talking about them, but I don't think they're well written at all because they never bring a satisfying end to the conflict and it drives me up the wall.

Didn’t they try that with that Tim Allen show Last Man Standing, but they did it to the extreme, and it became a show only the reddest of red could enjoy?

No, it started like that and mellowed over time. Originally, the eldest daughter was the liberal foil for Tim Allen's conservative character. Then, in seasons 2 through 9, she was replaced by her baby daddy, a deadbeat liberal from Canada. They would preach some hippy bullshit, but by the end of each episode their beliefs would prove to be untenable and they had to be rescued by the reliable and steadfast conservative father.

By season 4, that element of the show had been greatly reduced. They'd still do "issue" episodes a couple times a season, but overall the show moved towards standard sitcom beats.

By season 8, all the political shit was gone. Tim Allen had adopted an asian daughter. He made a black friend (and also hung out with Jay Leno). He was attending pot conventions with his liberal son-in-law. And he ended up loving and respecting all his daughters equally.

Of course by season 8, the audience was mainly conservative, but it didn't really pander to them. Rather, it didn't go out of its way to insult them like many shows.

It may have contributed, but I think it was tapping into what was there. I remember when Mythbusters was new, there were a few young women I met who would be like, "I love Mythbusters." You could never make Freaks and Geeks now. Mainly because of the first episode, where Lindsay tells the retard that he's, well, retarded. Even though she wasn't being mean (and it does end very badly), even though it was an acceptable word both in 1980 and 1999, people would still freak out that the opening storyline is "girl tries to be nice to retard, calls him retard, and he falls off the bleachers when he gets upset."

Also I think Bill was legit retarded himself and was an undiagnosed autistic. I'm sure it was unintentional (ie just giving direction based on experience and stereotypes), but still funny.

Also, here's one. The Netflix adaptation of Sandman has cast a black woman as Death, and literally that's all the reason I need to know it's fucking trash. The character of Death is literally shown with WHITE skin, we are talking PAPER WHITE. It's a fucking comic book, we already know what the characters look like! For fuck's actual fucking sake. I loved that series and was incredibly worried about it after seeing what happened with American Gods, and lo and behold it's already a pile of steaming poop. Let's just ignore that the cast release also included everyone's pronouns because that's what we all have to do these days to avoid accidentally himming a they.

Gaiman has always pandered, and has taken everything terrifying and interesting about myth and turned them into after school specials. His talent lies in elevating his stories just enough to make the reader feel smart without having to do a significant amount of reflection about what they've read.

As far as my own opinions go, TV drama just tends to bore me within a few minutes. I feel like I'm the writers' therapist and this is their first session where I figure out what books and movies they like, what their perversions are, and whether I should run, call the cops, or try and stick it out.
