"Scandinavian" was a poor choice of words. I mostly picked that because he drew upon Norse mythology when constructing Middle-Earth (most notably Gandalf), but he was also a scholar of European legends, so that was a mistake on my part. His big complaint, as was Lewis', was that the dwarves were too "vulgar," and Tolkien despised the film's art, calling it, "hopelessly corrupt."Wtf?? Snow White isn't a fairy tale from scandinavia. The dwarves come from the hessian version of Snow White. Also Scandinavians didn't invent dwarves.
So he was irritated that a disney cartoon movie for children about a german fairy tale was different from the scandinavian folklore he studied (which would mean he was a fucking idiot)??
