As the title says, this thread is for movies and shows we actually want to see instead of angry dread. Post trailer, posters, discussions, anything about what you're looking forward to seeing, big and small.

In Fabric:

I'm a sucker for throwbacks to 70s giallo movies, and it looks so campy and weird that it's right up my alley. Plus Julian Barratt's in it.

The Art of Self-Defense:

Another offbeat comedy which looks good enough that I can forgive it having Jesse Eisenberg.

The Lost City of Z was my movie of the year two years ago, and this is the director's follow-up to it that may finally come out this Fall.

That new Mao Mao show on Cartoon Network seems interesting. I just hope it'll be on Hulu.

Same with the Invader Zim movie.

Technically, two of these have already come out since they were shown at Cannes, but I'm going to post them here anyway.

Bong Joon-ho's Parasite
Céline Sciamma's Portrait of a Lady on Fire
Wong Kar-wai's Blossoms, which only has a poster so far

There have also been rumors floating around about a second season of the thriller show Stranger/Secret Forest coming out this year which I hope are true.

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is probably the movie I'm most looking forward to right now.

As far as shows go, I'm looking forward to The Expanse continuing. Westworld Season 3 apparently has Aaron Paul in it and is going cyberpunk which could be fun.

Dune

Nothing much is out on it so far other than its going to be 2 movies with the first one in November 2020 and a cast list being out. A few of the roles seem miscast and Zendaya is a mistake, but I'll wait on a trailer to really judge. I really want to see the part with Liet Kynes in the desert, that was definitely one of my favorite parts of the book.

I'm really curious about the Amazon LotR series. I suspect it might be trash, but it will probably be visually gorgeous trash that I can justify making popcorn for.

Invader Zim movie... i feel like i've heard of this already but it still made me go "wait what." that's sure to be interesting.

Bong Joon-ho's Parasite
ooohhh i almost forgot about this. i loved The Host and Mother, i should definitely find somewhere to watch this one.

Dune

Dune is one of my all time favorite novels. plus, i looooved Blade Runner 2049 and Arrival, so i can't fuckin' wait to see what Villeneuve does with this one.

as for something i'm looking forward to besides what's mentioned above... i'm cautiously optimistic about the HBO His Dark Materials series. loved the books, seriously disappointed by the movie (besides the casting of Ian McKellan as Iorek). very interested to see how true this series stays to the books.

I'm really looking forward to the Black Widow solo film. I love ScarJo
People give her shit for her acting but really tho Emily Blunt would have been given the exact same direction and character material so its pointless.
Cast looks good. Rachel Weisz, Andre Holland, etc. Now get Isabelle Huppert to join Julie Delpy as the Red Room instructors and it'll be amazing. ScarJo looks good in the set photos.

I suppose I'm looking forward to Wes Anderson's The French Dispatch (small chance of a late 2019 release but more likely spring-ish 2020) even though I've been hit-or-miss with Wes Anderson's non-animated films post Royal Tenenbaums.

As someone who enjoyed the comics as a tween, I'm still looking forward to The New Mutants despite all the delays. Even though Dark Phoenix is getting all of the hype as the last installment of Fox's X-Men franchise before it gets rebooted in the MCU, The New Mutants will probably be the final whimper of it (despite having been filmed a few years ago now) but I'm still hopeful that it'll be worth watching.

I'm hoping 2020's Bob's Burgers movie doesn't have a "save the town" storyline.

Anime-wise, I'm mainly looking forward to Non Non Biyori season 3 but it won't likely be out until next year. I'm also still waiting for Sentai Filmworks to announce a western release of the Non Non Biyori: Vacation movie.

man. that looks rad as hell, but i can't get over the uncanny valley-ish faces of the gelflings. because of the way they're articulated and the facial proportions they just look... off to me. but i feel that way about the original movie as well.

they did a damn good job recreating the looks of the original puppets though, huge props to them for that. Jim Henson did incredible work.

I'm not super hyped for it but Bruce Campbell is hosting a new Ripley's show. I'm curious to see how it goes. I was a huge Ripley's fan as a girl. Even had a couple of the old comic paperbacks from the 60s.

About a year ago, it was announced that Kenneth Branagh was tied to a miniseries based on Amor Towles's Gentleman in Moscow. Hope it actually comes to fruition – Branagh makes so much sense for this material.
