Upcoming movies - General thread for general spergery

So yeah I noticed we didn't have a dedicated thread for miscellaneous movies that are not part of bigger franchises with threads of their own that are coming out that catch the attention of us movie spergs, and having a general thread for this purpose will probably be of use both as a general discussion hub and as a means of ensuring that the multitudes of little threads that go nowhere don't pop up whenever a new movie is coming out.

Basically if you see an upcoming movie that catches your interest just type down a brief overview/synopsis and title and any image/video of it you think appropriate, and everybody else comment on how boring and derivative and cringy it will inevitably look.

To start us off I can think of nothing better to set the mood of tepid mediocrity and disappointment than the upcoming re-remake of The Grudge simply titled.....The Grudge

"A single mother and young detective (Andrea Riseborough) runs to save herself and her son from demonic spirits from a cursed house in her neighborhood."

Thus far a single image has been released

Directed by a literal nobody and written by the guy who wrote the Midnight Meat Train movie and seemingly a half dozen upcoming horror remakes from Pet Semetary to...oh fuck they are remaking Jacobs Ladder, this remake of a remake promises to be be the most uninspired thing horror fans have ever seen, something made all the more apparent when one looks at the brief synopsis and realises that the plot is shaping up to be a direct rip-off of Ringu/The Ring which is the movie that the original Ju-on/The Grudge films were heavily ripping off to begin with, making this latest film come full circle in the most mediocre way possible.

Hopefully you niggers will come up with something less underwhelming

The plot is currently unknown at the moment, But all the big names are coming back for this movie; including James Cameron as producer. I'm a huge Terminator sperg so I'll defiantly see this movie on opening day. Hopefully it will be awesome.
If this doesn't have an obese, meth-mouthed Edward Furlong desperately trying to save humanity while dodging domestic violence charges then what's the fucking point. Also Cameron's been "involved" with every Terminator movie so that don't mean jack dick. He doesn't give a shit about the franchise other than making more money.

For a franchise called Terminator, they sure don't fucking know when to terminate it.

Im excited for endgame when it comes out in April. I just to see how everything ends and how they're going to defeat Thanos.

This is where these movies actually get fun. There are so many directions they can go in, and that's what generates actual hype and actual interest in the movie. So much to the point that people are debating whether or not Thanos is even the main villain.

Hopefully they don't fuck up the mystery with Captain Marvel.

I've been looking forward to New Mutants for a couple of years now since I enjoyed the comics back in the day but the film kept on getting pushed back due to Fox forcing extensive reshoots and now it seems that it might not even get a theatrical release at all due to Disney gaining control of all the cinematic rights for the X-Men characters and associated spin-offs once the Fox merger is finalized and, as such, wanting to shutter the current X-Men cinematic franchise and reboot the characters within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (save for Deadpool who can just fourth-wall break his way into the MCU).

Feel like most years my favourite movies of that year end up being stuff I only hear about once they hit film festivals.

Ford v. Ferrari, Directed by James Mangold (Logan. 3:10 Yuma, Cop Land), staring Christian Bale and Matt Damon
"The film follows an eccentric, determined team of American engineers and designers, led by automotive visionary Carroll Shelby and his British driver, Ken Miles, who are dispatched by Henry Ford II and Lee Iacocca with the mission of building from scratch an entirely new automobile with the potential to finally defeat the perennially dominant Ferrari at the 1966 24 Hours of Le Mans race in France." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_v._Ferrari
Seems like it could be a good sunday afternoon movie like how Rush was, expecting a solid 6/10

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, Directed by Quentin Tarantino, Starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt, Margot Robbie and Al Pacino
"In 1969 Los Angeles, around the time of the Charles Manson murders, a television actor and his stunt double embark on an odyssey to make a name for themselves in the film industry." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Once_Upon_a_Time_in_Hollywood
He normally makes enjoyable if not very overrated movies, if not for the casting of pedo Lena Dunham I would see it at cinemas, right now it's a download movie for me.

Joker, Directed by Todd Phillips (Hangover 1 to 3, War Dogs, Road Trip), Starring Joaquin Phoenix, Robert De Niro and Zazie Beetz
"In 1981, a failed stand-up comedian disregarded by the society that he lives in turns to a life of crime and chaos in Gotham City." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joker_(2019_film)
Not a fan of Todd Phillips previous works however the casting of Joaquin Phoenix as the Joker has me very interested going off his work in the past few years.

The Irishman, Directed by Martin Scorsese, Starring Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, Joe Pesci, Anna Paquin, Bobby Cannavale, Harvey Keitel and Ray Romano
"Frank Sheeran, a labor union official with mob connections, recalls his involvement in the slaying of Jimmy Hoffa, an American labor union leader."https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Irishman_(2019_film)
Martin Scorsese $200million netflix movie, got a feeling this movie will be great if the cgi deaging of most of the cast doesn't turn out creepy.

Isn't the Grudge already a remake?
Yyyyup. It was a kinda mish-mash remake of both Ju-on The Curse 1 and Ju-on: The Grudge 1.

Honestly it does kinda depress me how much the re-remake will inevitably suck because the bare bones concept of "ultra-nasty rage ghost infecting a location and killing anybody who wanders into it, and then further infecting the locations these initial victims wind up dying and spreading further and further" is one I actually really like, and could do pretty damn well in a wholly original retelling.

Worst looking movies of the year
PLAYMOBIL: THE MOVIE, clearly only made after how well the Lego Movie did, also has that Fortnite dance.

Uglydoolls, Another animated movie based on a toy, never even heard of the toy this time.

Child's Play, Another horror remake, this time Chunky is a robot for reasons.

The Curse of La Llorona, which seems to be spin off the to awful Annabelle movies which itself was a spin off.

What Men Want, pointless remake that no one wants, will be this years Overboard

Drunk Parents, awful looking comedy from this dude that made the Grown Ups movies
