"Sioux" encompasses a lot but as a general rule when you come across Sioux women they have Round or Heart Shaped faces with very round, sometimes receding chins. Some may have a sharper corner to their jaw but not any more than the average white woman, so exaggerating that feature is weird as fuck.

IME Only really masculine male Sioux look like that-- (Yes, Anoki is AFAB.) and it really seems like their only reference when designing this character was old photos of male elders and they still fucked it up because the face is too long and meaty with weird tiny eyes. Sioux faces are only a little longer than they are wide and they have average to large eyes so Anoki just looks like an offensive drawing of a Maori

They actually made Anoki pretty cute in some of those concept images. Not cute for a 20-something dateable in VN, but a nice-looking design. Shame they ruined it by uglifying them into the absolute mess their official sprite is. Those alt hairs also look way better, and make the design a lot more memorable than "frumpy with big hair."
I have no idea why they didn't go with "alternate outfit 1" as her actual design. It's way prettier than her actual one, and the traditional jewelry is pretty cute. The hair frames her face in a way that makes her look less weirdly masculine. Her shirt doesn't look like a bootleg arcade carpet either.
It's far from perfect (wtf is up with the man hands and feet) but it's a huge improvement.

To me they both look bad. Anoki is just a really ugly character from the concept to the finished thing. I wonder why they are so against having an actually attractive character. There is this subsection of tumblr/twitter sjws that love ugly people. Love drawing ugly people, love making fanart of attractive characters and making them as ugly as they can. Is it because they are ugly themselves? Is it because of the wokeness?

Remember that the characters being ugly is part of the premise of the game. So yes, this is a game about ugly people fucking. Enjoy!

The oddest part of the decision to me is that alt outfit one is clearly Native American inspired. The design, while not a masterwork, is clearly rooted in the story they're trying to tell about Anoki. In the final design she's just a generic brown if you don't notice the tacky feather earring. In a game that's entirely selling itself on representation, why did they go with the design that is less representative of the character's culture?
For people so caught up in everything gender they have no idea how to visually represent it. You've got manhair thighs and a gigajaw. But Anoki is AFAB? Probably one of those "You can't assume someone's gender because of their appearance!" things. Some of these tumblr clowns are convinced that the average non-binary trans-thing bears no difference from the biological version of whatever they are trying to be. These are the types of people who put on pants and a binder or an ugly wig and actually think they pass based on their own feels alone.
Anoki is just such a clusterfuck of bad design and she even gets a horrible personality to go with it. She's an unintentional parody of tumblr.

Interesting how someone who claims to be part native (I always went with great great great great grandma was a Cherokee princess) picks the most stereotypical Native accessory to keep and jettisons the rest in favor of a hideous hot mess of an outfit.
Don't get me wrong, Anoki is an eternal dumpster fire regardless. But I feel like the artist could not silence their inner tumblr and went with the most generic loud and ugly they could. It couldn't be any worse if they had the hairy thighs on display.

I am almost surprised at the race changing, but just almost. This seems like the kind of sjw who would write a game that shits on white people so much (and the kind of friends Dani attracts).

Finally, the IP2 visual novel the farms was craving.
Easy, this character is only about culture when browness needs to be a factor. This character is about being a self insert: the creator chimped out when people critiqued Anoki in let's plays since Anoki has a large part of herself in her. Its why she dresses like a college age artist: because the creator is as well.
This game probably has more self inserts into it. We know about Yolanda (who never had explict confirmation but seeing Dani's blatant favoritism and similar apperance you can assume as such, along with her raging self centeredness) and Anoki (confirmed based off her creator). I'm wondering who is the next person to get butthurt by criticism.
