In simplified terms, yes, standing up for themselves is exactly what skyshamin is doing right here -- and i'm pretty proud of them, honestly. I've never known of them until now, but many of the people I do know of never had the balls to speak this bluntly right into the face of the barking dogs. They are, frankly, terrifying, especially with the hoards of flying monkeys that they can wave their hands passive aggressively on their own twitters to do their harassment-bidding at anyone who dares displeases them.

In the long term though, what people need is a sense of self grounded solely within themselves -- not from within a community. Thats how these sorts of people end up being vulnerable to being with -- their sense of self esteem, self worth, etc, are entirely solely based on what groups of people think of them, what they demand of them, and because they think that they themselves are not worth anything unless they sway to these desires, they are at the mercy of the every-changing opinion of these often hypocritical and nonsensical environments. The people i've watched come out of these groups and heal only heal once they realize that their sense of worth needs to come from within and needs to be entirely self-generated.

Which sounds like some pretty gay shit. But it be true.

I used to like some of vcr's art, especially in the early days. They just got more weird and fetishy by the day. After they got a thread here and I checked up on them, finding out they were with some fucking vore obsessed kid they had to have been talking to since the kid was 16, finding out they had indeed been talking to a minor during that weird Steven universe porn phase, I knew something was up.

I don't think they are a legitimate pedophile per se, but this new info kinda puts the pieces together.

Shoving their weird fetish stuff on minors and people who are very placid with low self esteem, creating a hierarchy of being the only "pure" one into that shit, while everyone else has to follow the "rules..."

Vcr has talked about experiencing "religious abuse" or something to that effect, and this follows a pattern I've witnessed with kids raised in fundamentalist or cult like families.

I'd speculate they aren't being very honest with their therapists and related healthcare people about what is some serious patterns of predation they use to cope with some variety of trauma. Definitely don't doubt that bpd diagnosis.

Like, they understand enough about why it's wrong that we only hear about it when someone gets out of their friends group and vcr tries to gas light them into irrelevancy. It's really fucked up.

it's sad to see this kind of shit in art, writing and rp communities, especially when you see genuinely skilled and creative artists get sucked into it (not talking specifically about VCR here, though i do still like some of their designs). i've come dangerously close to getting involved with people who i suspect are along these lines, but luckily i've had the sense to back out (and usually have some other excuse to do so) before i'm in too deep--besides the one person who did that job for me by turning on me (in private, mind you) after a single disagreement.

reading all of skyshaymin's tweets and the things they retweeted is pretty eye-opening (though not entirely new to me). good to know that people have been able to break away from the cult and come out alright though.

Talking about people using pet-names and similar terms while saying you're disappointed in them or disgusted by them after using them or otherwise fostering a toxic environment is one of the main things that abusers (often) do when being called out on their abuse, and VCR has an especially storied history of doing this. I think someone else mentioned in the past how similar this is to the way religious abuse is cultivated and often plays out (god is disappointed in his children, hate the sin love the sinner, etc) which would make sense if VCR is being honest about past religious abuse. Unfortunately, they've chosen to become the same kind of abuser and continue the cycle, rather than move past it.

It would be sad if it weren't disgusting.

I've been holding off posting in this thread cause I didn't think my information was that interesting (plus it kinda gives away who I am to ol' Wolfe). But fuck it.

I was a big fan of Wolfe back around 2012, 2013, when I was a youngin'. I'm gonna be as vague as possible in case by some weird chance they watch this thread, but I got a piece of art from them. It's not up on their page anymore, and I didn't pay for it. It was actually pretty nice. They took artistic liberties on it, but it was free so I didn't really care at the time.

I know they identified as "neutrois" back in the day. I remember because this was a little before trans was a trendy thing, and I looked it up and didn't understand a god damn thing about what it meant. I believe they went by "they" pronouns, which I'm only using because of the glimmer of respect I have for them for being nice to me back when I was like, 15. They went by Charles, which of course is known by now. From their fursonas at the time, they seemed to see themselves kinda like a grimy twink. I dunno if they ever had genuine dysphoria or just some kind of dysmorphia, I dunno. But they did seem to see themselves as kind of masculine back in the day. My memory is shit though, I could be wrong.

I don't like SJW types (clearly) so I'm not really their biggest fan anymore. Plus their art just fetishy to me. It wasn't before, I thought their art was pretty rad before.

I feel like getting with kata was where we might call the "sexual awakening" happened. I remember vcr elaborating that they had basically fallen for one of their good friends and they started e-dating.

They'd gradually do more horny art, especially with some.. very strange fetishes. I think they were called "birdbones" at that point. They'd always be like oh it's just interesting and I guess some of it had some kind of uhhh artistic merit, I guess, but I remember thinking it was weird that this person went from "basically asexual" to "drawing feral furry porn and weird dicks." Kata would just totally lose contact with vcr. Apparently for such lengths of time, that vcr put out a call for someone in northern Italy to attempt contact for them. I remember thinking that was really fucking weird, I'm no stranger to international e-dating, why wouldn't someone prioritize keeping internet or having some international minutes on a phone plan or something for their partner? I'd only ever heard of that kinda thing happening where it turned out the situation was... Not good.

At this point, they've apparently actually met and vcr referred to them as a fiance. Kata seems to have some kind of regular online presence again, but who the fuck ditches their long term "fiance" for like, months at a time?

I find skyshaymins' comment about anti-gay cults disagreeable, though. From what I have seen in my life, the anti-gay people would actually be horrified at anyone who would throw gays off rooftops or tries 'corrective' rape. The only times anyone tries to 'isolate' someone 'queer' are parents who try to keep their children away from any 'bad influences'. The same goes wi the 'stalking'; they would actually be rummaging though their child's tuff when trying to discover why their sweet little child is uddenly some stargender seasexual snowflake. Anyone who leaves 'Cis Straight City' would not be isolated or even blamed... just some prayers that God's love would lead you back to holiness at most, bu they would still respect you. A difference of opinion or even thoughtview is not sin.

If anything, skyshaymins' comment applies to the pro-gay movement. They would gladly accept you and want you to grow up your cute little diverse queer self, ye the moment you disagree wi them regarding queer ideology in any way or, worse, wan to go back to being cis, straight, or both, you would get harassed (even to the point of violence) because, to them, you are no different from Daesh/the Taliban.
