So Sony just released the teaser trailer for their upcoming Venom movie a couple days ago.

You know for a movie about Venom, this trailer seems to be missing something, but I can't quite put my finger on what it is ...

Story-wise it's probably better if they distance Venom from Spiderman. Venom's backstory is a clusterfuck and Eddie Brock was some random guy from /fit/ with daddy issues. It looks like it's going to be revenge-action movie with superpowers and I'm okay with that.

I can understand that, when their introducing a new character or "monster", but everyone knows what Venom looks like. I mean at least have a quick shot of him at the very end. That being said it looks decent and I'll see it.

I haven't read comics since the 90's. Has his backstory changed that much? It used to be fairly straightforward. Eddie suffered a bunch of misfortunes accidentally caused by Spiderman and hated him. The symbiote was jilted by Spiderman and hated him. Boom. Venom. Not a clusterfuck.
