It doesn't take a genius to figure out her addiction issues, skittishness and flakey tendencies were a symptom of a way bigger problem than the people constantly shitting on her for her perceived failures and despite an entire lifetime of trauma lived acknowledge.

I'm not a psychiatrist but in a similar profession. Either she pulled those medication names out of her arse or I've just never heard of this combination. of course I don't know how long she is in psychiatric care and how many medications they tried out.

I can confirm what she says about bipolar, ADHD and borderline personality disorder. especially for female patients it can be quite difficult to diagnose it accordingly. And either of the 3 is often misdiagnosed as another of the 3 because they have a same set of symptoms like impulsivity, mood disruptions, low social competence and a differing portion of narcissism. although I personally think that you can make out the borderliners quite easily because early or later (and most of the time it's quite early) they quickly jump from a good relationship bonding to hating your guts because they feel offended.

but then there also are those that have combined disorders. ADHD and bipolar are rather connected to biological causes while borderline - though there are hereditary connections - is rather aquired throughout early childhood. you can have a combinations of 2 out of the 3 - so ADHD + bipolar, bipolar + BPD, ADHD + BPD and I've also seen patients being diagnosed with all three.

strattera is standard medication for ADHD although usually not a first choice and rather chosen when emotional lability is a main issue. risperidone is an antipsychotic medication typically used for schizophrenia and bipolar. for mood it's used in a rather lower dose because antipsychotics are quite draining, making you tired and slowing movements down. it can also help with mood disruptions which is why it's used in bipolar patients. valproate is also used in bipolar patients especially for manic episodes.

if she is not lying her medical team most probably go with bipolar disorder and she must have had some extreme mood swings with intense mania and depression, because all three medications are set to stabilize mood and it seemed only one of them wasn't enough. bipolar disorder is one of the most difficult disorders to treat and risk of suicide is high. I don't really get why someone that seems to have issues with mania would get described strattera since it activates one more. either it's there to stabilize mood further to tackle down the depressive side or she really has ADHD and it calms her down instead - and enough that the prescription is justified.

I don't get what she's talking about regarding a topography exam. usually an EEG is standard procedure and then a prolonged interview for accessing diagnosis. maybe they wanted to make sure she doesn't have any abnormalities? idk.
